VFL Round 2 - Sandringham

I suspect they've decided that he's not good enough in the midfield to make it at AFL level, so are looking to see if they can make him into a small defender. Personally reckon he has more chance as a small forward. He's a decent kick for goal and hard at it, loves to tackle so would be perfect for that small forward role but they've obviously decided they'd prefer him as a small back.
As close as a guarantee that he's not making it as a backman imo. He's an inside player and loves to tackle. Small forward? Dunno, it's a very tough possie. I just prefer to see him play his trade in the midfield. If not, cut him.

Sonsie head and shoulders our best, followed by Mansell. Clarke okay, RCD slowly built into it. Worked hard but not clean and little impact.

Martyn woeful until the last, when he stepped up to ordinary.

Will Martyn should have lapped up the conditions but made error after error.
Interesting he was playing off half back.

Sonsie finished with 31 disposals, 7 clearances, 5 tackles, 4 inside 50s and a goal.

End the Sonsie farce?

Cut him in r3?
Or decide we ve got better options in the midfield so trial other positions for him.
Imo that's what we're doing.

In a way Sonsie has pushed him out, as Lynch did to Caddy.
Clearly we want to give the Sonz the gametime

No of course not cut him in Rd 3. Keep playing him midfield. Had 10 or 11 in the last quarter. I can't see why Sonz and he can't both play midfield. In fact they did in the last. Martyn is not a backman imo and he won't be ahead of current backline and the likes of Mansell.

I don't think Tigers have given up on him as a midfielder btw, just trying to round his game out.
