U.S Presidential Election

This hush money trial seems a bit weird to me. Can't quite comprehend the illegality or level of outrage over some rich old bloke paying some porn star / hooker for a bit of nookie n then paying her a bonus to shut up n not tell anyone about it.
Can understand some minor infraction if he's tried to claim it as a business expense instead of using personal funds or tried to get a tax deduction, but surely it's barely above a misdemeanor offence.
 
So. The Supreme Court rules in favour of presidential immunity. Trump supporters jump up in joy. Next day, Trump is assasinated on presidential orders. Trump supporters demanding Biden be imprisoned

It’s a bit like that. However, the uber partisan right wing that keep screaming about democracy, rights, the law etc sheepishly turn a blind eye to that absurd reality.

It’s farcical.

To be honest, I’ve never really understood the strength of this particular case either. Of all 4 criminal trials this is the weakest in my opinion.

The one I always thought was the strongest was the Georgia election interference case. That has undeniable evidence attached to it and a list of defendants that could easily cut a deal if they implicate Trump - especially Mark Meadows who is a totally self obsessed rat. However, an utterly incompetent DA has compromised that case now so its strength has also been diluted.

Things are going Trump’s way, so far at least, with these various indictments.

Note: in the latest Arizona election interference case Trump is listed as a co conspirator in that case so again, if the likes of Giuliani, Meadows etc turn turtle on him then he could find himself as a defendant in that case too. That’d make for 5 criminal indictments if that happens.

Yes, that's basically correct - fraudulent business docs are usually a misdemeanor in NY State.

The prosecutor however has tied it to the presidential campaign in 2016 so the charges now relate to "falsifying New York business records in order to conceal damaging information and unlawful activity from American voters before and after the 2016 election.”

This pushes it to a felony status but this case doesn't really have a precedent in NY law so it's a crapshoot as to how it will turn out. It's a class E felony so he's unlikely to do time if convicted.

The Supreme Court stuff about immunity relates more to the Jan 6 insurrection case. That could be watered down by the immunity buck-passing and may not proceed before the election either.

The strongest case is the Florida documents case but the judge is a known Trumpista, that won't happen before the election. If he wins the election he will pardon himself for this and Jan 6.

So if Biden doesn't win, the world is effed basically 😂😂

Guess there's a perfectly valid reason why the phrase " Only in America " was coined. Massive mob of convoluted nut jobs playing in the circus over there n the poor deluded bastards somehow believe they're all *smile* wonderful n their *smile* don't stink.

If you look at the history of the States, they’re really a “black market economy” to use a phrase. Anything goes. Anything.

I go over there a lot and the amount of under the table activity that goes on over there would be amazing to most here in Australia, but just standard for them.

It’ll be in the New York courtrooms where they turn the temperature down to try and keep the Orange Pumpkin awake and the extraction fans can deal with his really bad flatulence.
