Samson Ryan

Second ruck only, then injured, then pinched.

It says something about trading for a known quantity: mid-career rather than end-career, and for a primary ruck rather than back-up ruck.
Soldo was flying before he did his knee. Have a look at his stats in 2019 & 20. Many preferred him as our tap ruckman to Nank.
Bloody travesty that Tom Hawkins curbed his progress.

What is he: is he the next Max Gawn as the Dunces of Doom have been prattling on about for the last 2 years ? Or is he a spud like people such as Scoop Dog have been saying ?

I don’t want any middle of the road, fence sitting answers. Gimme the God damn truth. I can handle it Roberto!
My take is that he's roughly of the McKee (thank you for the reminder, Zipper) to Witts type and class. Certainly an AFL ruck.

His strength is his use and that's off atm. He knows exactly where he's hitting it. (Should train our defenders in spoiling.) His weaknesses are lack of focus and agility. Small bingo hall syndrome.

Morris hates him and that is probably the RFC take -

Samson Ryan (five disposals, three contested possessions, five tackles, 43 hit-outs, one goal)

“I thought Samson was huge in the ruck. It was a great opportunity for him to battle up against a couple of very good ruck opponents. I think he can have a bigger influence on the game away from the ruck work around the ground, and he probably didn't have that influence on the weekend, but he's in good form at the moment.”

Damns him with faint praise. Encouragement. Not expecting much. That's the message. "Couple of very good rucks"? One of em was 18yo. Lobb is a champion at VFL level.

I forgot to mention that he's a dud, Redders. Of course he is. He's a ruck.

I'm disappointed that his strength has not improved in his time at the club. He is now 23, 24 this year. He looks great in the centre bounce as he gets a run at the ball and is 206cm. But around the ground, he gets out muscled by smaller opponents. He either hasn't been putting in the strength work, has been poorly trained or his body is not capable of building strength.

Either way, I'm calling him a bust. Talk of a 3 year extension concerns me.

Give me your market to be the following:
a) Max Gawn - Ruck Gawd.
b) Jarrod Witts - 173 games
c) Steve McKee - 84 games
d) Gus Graham - 48 games (of pure comedy bliss)

You've been on the fence far too long.

Anyone who can be traded for a gun mid like Clinton King deserves to be ranked higher the Jarrod Witts.

23 & 1/2, half way through his 4th season on our list but he’s not in out top 38 players it seems. Nank as sole ruck with a few chop outs from Balta or someone. Not looking good for the boy.

I don’t think the club sees it that way considering they are in the process of extending his contract.

Yep. Said it a few times including after the Footscray game, Nank should be dropped and replaced by Ryan.
Agree on dropping Nakas buy you can't select a bloke on the back of 10 possessions in the 2's.
We never ever have players smashing it in the reserves
