I don't agree with the #17 captain getting another run. It's been tried, as a bit of a knee jerk reaction imo, and wasn't really successful. Bringing it back could lead to a similar situation where the captain didn't want to support the initiative.

What is happening on Friday?

If we follow what the 3 other stand alone clubs are doing with their VFL captains, we will have co-captains who are both VFL listed players.

Port Melb coach Gary Ayres confirms ace wingman Nathan Batsanis will play for Richmond in 2014. Another fine signing for the VFL Tigers
 
Max Bailey might even play some games for the VFL team as well if his knees hold up.
