Potential Father/Son thread

Re: father sons- father sons 2011 2012 2013

Wil Pickering has kicked 51 goals at Fitzroy Ammo's this year in C- Grade. Still only 21, He's a big lad and is 6ft 4.
Needs to do a lot of work on his fitness but looks like he could play a few levels higher.
His Dad Michael is assistant coach down there.

Re: father sons- father sons 2011 2012 2013

And we read in the Herald Sun this morning that Shane Crawford's wife is expecting twin boys, taking the tally of opportunity to 4 for the Hawks. Frustrating.

With the rubbish thats racking up 100 games at will at the RFC over the years im all for sterilization so none of these duds can pass on their ineptness thus continuing the pain of their fathers legacy

Maybe we could do that with some of our so called fans as well.

Re: father sons- father sons 2011 2012 2013

We may have to wait for the grandsons by the looks of it.

Re: father sons- father sons 2011 2012 2013

It is pretty easy to come up with a list of elligable fathers.

  • 100 games
Born after 1950 (would mean they are 60 now. They could have had a kid when they were 45 who is now 15)
  • Born before 1982 (they would be 30ish now. Could have had a kid at 17 who would be 13 now).

That leaves ...

Campbell, Wayne
Richardson, Matthew
Knights, Matthew
Weightman, Dale
Bowden, Joel
Gale, Brendon
Keane, Merv
Lee, Mark
Jess, Jim
Cloke, David
Wood, Bryan
Gaspar, Darren
Roach, Michael
Rogers, Matthew
Tivendale, Greg
Kellaway, Duncan
Kellaway, Andrew
Broderick, Paul
Chaffey, Mark
Daffy, Nick
Balme, Neil
Strachan, Greg
Rowlings, Barry
Hogg, Jeff
Turner, Scott
Naish, Chris
Pickering, Michael
Tuck, Shane
Raines, Geoff
Free, Tony
Ottens, Brad
Egan, Phil
Holland, Ben
Lambert, Craig
Malthouse, Mick
Landy, Graeme
Monteath, Bruce
Rioli, Maurice
Torney, Jason
Johnson, Kane
Dunne, Emmett
Morris, Kevin
Leys, Brian
Palm, David
Bond, Chris

Of those quite a few have already had their sons pass through the AFL / State Leagues / TAC Cup (crossed them out). Others are probably too old (Balme, Malthouse) or only have daughters (Malthouse) or don't have kids at all (yet or much younger).

Malthouse has sons. Just not good footballers.

Re: father sons- father sons 2011 2012 2013

Just heard on SEN that Kevin Morris son Shane has been given permission by the AFL to train with the club as a potential father/son selection.

Does anyone know what the kid is like?

Fair effort then. Maybe a late pick.

At least we're starting to look for higher quality than SANFL reserves players (Farmer, Nason). Seems he's done okay at the lower level.

Thanks WT.

For a late pick in the draft he might be worth a shot. No better time to do it than now with the compromised draft.
