Geelong v Richmond - Rd1 Sun 28 August 20222

That umpiring made the likes of O'Gorman, Deboy and Findlay look like superstars.

Why weren't the AFL umpires, umpiring this weekend anyway???
Agreed Mr P.

Why not get experienced umpires when there's no other footy on??

That blonde girl is probably Geelong's runner, or lives in Geelong, or bets heavily on Geelong, or is Steve Hocking's illegitimate daughter.

A sling, which it wasn't, and the downfield was because she was "dumped" late after she disposed of the ball, which she wasn't.

2 horrible decisions in the same play gifts them the game. As others have said, if this is the standard of umpiring and it influences games like this, then people will switch off away from the game.
Even so, how did the same player take the kick if it was down field??

Wow that was a horrendous free. And shouldn't have been down the field either and if it was, a different player should have taken it.

We should have won that, misses in the second quarter were terrible.

But the umpiring, that is the worst I have ever seen. To cap it all off they gift the game to Geelong with a free in front of goal for who knows what. Richmond need to complain, that was so one-sided.

Team looked better in patches, certainly the defence was much better. Attack needs a lot of work, they really need to work on how they get it into our forward 30. Mind you, when we did a fair job of getting the ball in to scoring positions we missed a few easy shots.

Still, would have won if not for the appalling umpiring.

Good point. I hadn't even noticed that, so thats the 3rd mistake in the same play by the 1 umpire. Awful ending to the game.

Sling tackle - nup
Late - nup
Downfield given to the right player - nup

but.... kick those 2 or 3 easy goals we missed and it wouldn't be down to a last minute dodgy decision ...

and we had it in our goal square about 30 seconds earlier ..

For sure, a couple of poor shots at goal. Wakefield was really off today, she's normally a much better mark, and a much better kick. Kicked at least 2 behinds, and where she kicked them from, you would expect her to have kicked at least 1. Hosking's was a soda (probably a lucky free though)

Any momentum pushes were killed off just forward of CHF with a timely bs free, polished off with that last travesty free, which presumably was for tackling too good.
Joke.

Hate that team. Hate that joke of a stadium.

22-15 frees is “because our game style” is the same as the men’s I suppose? Certainly the shats women were allowed to throw/drop the ball like their men. One classic bit of footage was a tackle that was met with the old Selwood style raising arm into the neck. Result? Too high! What a surprise.
Farce

we are all feeling bad because its Geelong ...

I’ll just continue to watch the Tiges , but geeez it’s a tough watch , the girls are tough as, however , the skills, the umpiring the whole thing is just so far from footy we are used to watching . Definitely tough on them as we’ve grown up with the elite of the game and the girls are still not at a professional level , however dosent change the fact it’s a hard watch atm

How does Molan get a game?
Molan should have been delisted year one but they don't want to be seen to have *smiled up their inaugural 1st round pick, she shuffles slower than Cliff Young, no VFLW attributes at all.

Would prefer any of Brancatisano, Jacques, McDonald in place of her. Slow as treacle, no footy IQ, not sure why she is in the team personally. You can't even use her to tag the oppositions best midfielder as she is so slow.

Molan and Reid are gonna be contentious points of discussion again this year by the looks.

Unfortunately they are the same player. Poor below the knees, slow as treacle, and when they kick they get under the ball way too much, their kicks go high with no depth.
