Draft prospects 2020

Good idea in theory. It may depend on how it affects the salary cap Turk. Is there a rule about 1st time draftees getting a minimum of 2 years on the rookie list?
Only 1 year on the rookie list I believe

Surprised that there's not much love for Lachlan Vanirsen, he won the league best and fairest as well as being best on ground in the grand final. Buckenara hasn't even got him in his top 50 "or other players in the mix to be drafted or rookie listed".
I haven't seen him play, but he can't do much more than what he has done, surely he gets picked up.

I like everything I read about Jack Carroll but can't find a single highlight of his. Quick, wins the ball on the inside and good by hand and foot.

Like Shai Bolton, he's a December baby so he's super young. I like that, loads of improvement left in him. And is already performing at a high level of an underage mid. Elite decision maker who wins 60% of his possessions contested. That's huge. Great leap and brisk over 20 meter.

I'm warming on a kid I've never seen quick a ball. 2020 coming at you.

Senior list draftee's get 2 years and Rookie list gets 1 year min i believe
Rookie list spot players are 80k out of the cap but they get i think around 60-70k so we would lose about $80k cap space benefit
ut pretty much stay out of this year and load up next year with the benefit of having a look at 5-6 KPP rookies to see if there are gems that didnt play this year

Wouldnt mind Brand as a later pick , friends son knows people who either know him or know people (yeah i know) who have said alot of clubs have talked with him. Not sure its us though but seems to be a good prospect

Good 'Brand' i heard

Trading for pies 1st in 21 would be ideal.
Imagine that joy from watching them lose each week, just a little bit more happiness than normal.

They want to trade because the daicos boy is good. It will be interesting to see how they rate themselves for next year

Thats the worse, having a father and son selection but missing out on the next Vaulstin or Riewodlt.
Cant believe Collingwood are pinning there future on 2 Dacios's and Callum Brown.
I personally believe they will struggle to make the 8 and if they what Buckley out it could end up a top 5 pick...

Hows this for a thought and completely different to other teams

* Trade out of the first 2 rounds #17 + #34 + #61 for a 1st rounder around 6-12 next year
* Only take MRJ as the 1 pick
* Upgrade Pickett ,Aarts,Chol,Baker,Miller all onto senior list (leaving rookie list completely empty)
* Draft 5 rookie KPP only for 1 year and see how they go

This way we can delist in 1 year which are not upto it and have a loaded hand for 2021 with
2 x 1st rounders
2 x 2nd rounders
2 x 3rd rounders

If Jackson has a kid in mind and we miss out. Then go ahead and do it. But with such a weird season, Jackson might have his player still available at 17.

The interesting thing with trading into next year’s draft is how each club weighs the risk of next year’s draft also being disrupted.

Whether it’s Victoria, NSW, WA, or multiple states; further waves are likely. But everyone will have their own thoughts on that likelihood.

Personally I think it’s highly likely that next year’s draft will be disrupted in some form or another. If so, depending on when/where/how long, the Victorian kids could essentially have missed most of their U17’s and U18’s. Some of those kids will never make up that lost development, so it’s not just a challenge for recruiters.

But at the very least, recruiters could be making their judgments after 2 full years, possibly, of disruptions and multiple asterisks next to whatever numbers they’ve finely tuned to aid their ranking process. Next year’s draft could end up the weakest in modern history. That’s a risk for us if we trade ahead.

Whatever future trading we might do, we should at least use this logic as a bargaining chip to maximise the value of this year’s picks.

With the Vaccine being rolled out and the likely chance that Australia will start vaccinating march/april as well as the cases being as low as they are in australia i think it will be seen to be safe to continue and the season will be pretty well good to go in 2021

I hope so anyway

I'd be surprised if sporting organisations don't push themselves to the front of the vaccine queue.

I'm surprised, too, that the tennis was only shifted back a week when the players and their entourages could have been getting vaccinated (in Britain soon, and elsewhere as the opportunity arises) and then coming here to play during the Easter holidays.

Really wondering why its taking so long to start vaccinating people in europe , specially the elderly and the high risk front line workers
Its been over a year and the vaccine is ready . Just do it
