Just thought I'd start a thread on comedians, apologies if one already exists. Thought id kick it off with one of my favourite George Carlin shows. Also a big Bill Hicks fan and will post one of my favourites of him down the track.

More than happy for more light hearted stuff. I'm just drawn to the dark arts.

Always loved a bit of Rodney Dangerfield. Corny one liners but I loved him.

Todays comedians are all politically correct, “White people hey, how racist are they?” types.

rodneys comedys great! Nothing wrong with one liners. I think its unfortunate that comedians are so PC these days. Most of the old comedians ripped on all facets of society. It's just entertainment.

I watched a set by Don Rickles recently, he ripped into EVERYONE. Wouldn't get a look in today.

Heard a story (I think on the Talking Sopranos podcast which is a great podcast if you like the Sopranos) about Don Rickles on the set of Casino, he was cast in the film as himself entertaining at one of the casinos run by Robert DeNiro's character. Apparently he knew that DeNiro had idolised him as a kid so he absolutely ripped into him during takes to put him off, and Deniro did nothing about it.

Heres a bit you’re referring to:

I heard Scorsese saying Rickles would get stuck into him (MS) in between takes , going from playing the serious Billy to pisstaking Don.

Bumping this up...

I'm doing a show at the Melbourne Comedy Festival, 17 of them to be precise.

Here is the link if any of you are feeling inclined: https://www.comedyfestival.com.au/2024/shows/no-time-for-games

Playing in Richmond, on Bridge Road, so location is epic and you dont need to go into the CBD.

And if you're thinking "but is he any good?" (fair, and debatable), this article got written about me last year in the lead into a festival in Geelong. https://fortemag.com.au/its-a-comed...igs-jeremy-dooley-brings-no-doubt-to-geelong/

Will post a few recommendations as the festival gets closer too

Comedy festival is off and running. I sold out my opening weekend, and had 2 people fall off their seats. Go me.

Saw Arj Barker last night at the Atheneum, solid show. If you like Arj you'll like this.

Exford Hotel Comedy Festival After Party was rowdy and loose, and is free on every night. You will see pro comics on a lineup with some real beginners. Always worth a watch if youre in the city late at night.

There is a big discount running till 12pm today (wednesday 3rd) giving you 20% off select shows across the festival, good time to pick up a bargain

Well done D85.
Arj is a favourite of mine, always pretty solid.

Seen Lloyd Langford and Ray O'Leary so far. Good value. And no one fell off their seats so you can't be either of them?:)

Kirsty Webeck and Will Anderson to come - haven't seen Will live for years (Glasshouse days) so looking forward to it.

Going to The Ashes of comedy on the 20th. Went last year, was quite enjoyable. 3 Australian comedians v 3 UK comedians.

Ray O'Leary was BOG at the gala by the length of the Flemington straight.

Bit of an older one I have rediscovered lately. Seems to surface a fair bit as a backing track to reels and compilations on social media depicting and showing epic failures.

My wife and I have only seen him before on Have You Been Paying Attention and, my wife being a kiwi, decided we'd book some tickets to go see him at the festival.
When we saw him on the gala, we both thought we'd made a mistake! His bit was ok, but not as funny as we'd hoped.
But were pleasantly surprised, he did a really good show

that's wild, in the room at the gala he had the strongest reaction by a long long way. glad his full length was good
