AFL Betting Thread

You know what p!sses me off about punting in this country? That to bet in-play you have to make a phone call, wait for the *smile* ex-private schoolboy at the corporate bookie to answer the phone, identify yourself, tell them the sport and the event, what you want to back, what your stake is, wait for them to confirm and match it, before you can get on. Any advantage you might have had from being perceptive could evaporate, never mind that the match circumstances have possibly changed, and the odds certainly have.

Example: last night Essendon were clearly the better team. When Adelaide got 3 goals up in the third the Bummers got out to $6 on Betfair. A click of a button and I was on, but you can't do it with a click of a button. You can't play online poker, a game of skill. But you can sit in front of a one-armed bandit and click your pension away one button at a time on a rigged machine. This country is a protection racket.

Absolutely. As annoying as all ****.

The Giants are gonna bottle this. They’ve been bloody ordinary.

GWS are underdogs against Bris at home. Assume the Greene factor. I think Toby will get off. If he does they should be 1.60.

Even if he does not play they still win.

Double into Carlton as underdogs against Geelong.

After recent wipeouts on this thread it's time to get it back on track.

Crows at $2.35 H2H and with 7.5 pts start are both bets tonight.

Port team weakened, especially Allir might expose Esava. Also pretty unimpressive against Saints last week.

Crows starting to play decent footy and get a couple of handy ones back.

Good bet!

Num Nu,m Num. Easy win. Sets up the weekend perfectly.

Note - Expect Port to be overbet all year on the back of a gun midfield.

But that slow defence and poor forward line will make it hard to win against half decent teams all year.

Maybe.

Adelaide got pretty lucky kicking straight and port blowing their chances.

These things tend to even out a little although you may be blessed with more accuracy / innacuracy and that is who you are.

Well that was easy. The GWS midfield is weak. Green, Kelly, Coniglio, Callaghan, Ward. That’s not worrying anyone

Can’t believe every man and his dog on PRE thinks we should get Green. He’s a dead set plodder that just jogs up and down the centre corridor.

Interesting obs. Green is important as their main clearance player so it definitely hurt them when he went off. That midfield is going pretty average statistically. Ward shouldn't be playing, very ineffective.

The Swans were much tougher. Not sure the rain helped the GWS.

The GWS midfield got utterly smashed to smithereens 2 weeks ago by Carlton as well. They were putrid.

Their midfield is decidedly average.
