2021 mid season draft

William Collins to WCE
This guy has been delisted by the Eagles. Just find it funny that 3 months ago he was worth drafting. Now, 12 weeks later, he’s not worth being on their list. Wonder what the Eagles learned about him despite not playing an AFL game, only WAFL games (which was where he was playing when they based their decision on to draft him).

Who's the Darren Cuthbertson lookalike Stkilda brought in this year? Where did the snag him from??

if this happens, then Richmond does well in this year's draft and loading up big next year (possible big fish???) only assuming here as I have no information
They work a very tasty deal with the point-hungry Western Bulldogs, getting their first-round pick (17) and a future second for multiple second and third-round picks (28, 38, 40 and 44, perhaps?). Then they couple 17 and 7 to nab Gold Coast’s pick 3. In the end, they’d have picks 3, 15, 26 and 29, plus a first and two seconds in 2022. What a haul!

Charlie Ham to North.
Ham has been cut by North after being drafted back in June in the MSD. The poor kid, he’s 18, must be devastated. I think it’s just crap that a club can draft a kid in the MSD in June and cut him 3 or 4 months later, especially in these times when the reserves barely get to play. The recruiter should also be held accountable if he can’t pick a kid that’ll last more than that. Fair enough if you pick a mature ager and say “we’ve recruited you to fill a need til end of season” (which is what the MSD was designed for) but to pick 18 yr olds and dump then 12 weeks later is very poor form IMO.

The kid made 50 grand, didn't he?

I think the players get an extra $20k if they are delisted in their first year.
Fair enough. Anyway, I see the day where the minimum contract for the MSD is til the end of the FOLLOWING season, ie 15 months. I just don’t think it’s a good look to be drafting 18 yr olds then getting rid of them 3 months later. That wasn’t the purpose of the MSD.

Anyway I had a look at Charlie Hans highlight reel. Nice, compact hbf, lovely left with a bit of a Luke Hodge look when kicking (not saying he plays like him though)

I think if the clubs didn't have the option to cut them at the end of the year the MSD wouldn't exist.
Probably. But then again what is the point of the mid season draft?????
Is it about grabbing a mature age player from a state league comp to fill an urgent plug and play requirement, such as a Matt Parker. Where there is no guarantee, but perhaps an opportunity for a second chance at an AFL career if he performs reasonably well during his moment of opportunity.
Or is it about a club purely grabbing a speculative youngster they may have missed during the normal end of season drafts with a view to fudging ahead with a promising kid who's perhaps having some good form at lower leagues, but is not yet any realistic chance of playing senior footy. Knowing you can chuck him in the bin 3 months later when the next round of usual drafts come around.

Trying to forge an AFL career is pretty cut throat at the best of times. Personally reckon #lolnorf got this completely wrong.

Not from what I've watched and I've seen every game
Love looking at comments from blokes who think themselves experts. Especially those that love bagging others judgements also.

The one above is on Sam Durham by KK. After a few posters said he looked good and we should be looking at him in the 2021 mid-season draft.

KK bagged him and said he had seen every game he had played in. Basically wrote him off.

Some eye for players hey?

Durham appears to be the type that simply keeps improving at the level he is playing. He is one of the reasons the bombers have improved. Star. Inspired mid-season draft pick.

I’m not sure the opinion of King Wrong is one you’d want to listen to.
