I have never been to an NSL or A league match nor do I watch the Australian league on TV and haven't watched the FACup final for 25 years when it was once compulsory viewing but I am a compulsive World Cup viewer. Have been since 74 when you could barely pick out the players on the b&w tv broadcast from dimly lit stadiums.

Looking forward to seeing how this tournament pans out. It's never boring.

Australia 1-0 up in the friendly against the Czech Republic close to half time.

Aus vs Czech warm up on now. We’re 1-0 up at half time.

I’ve seen bigger crowds at a GWS vs GCS JLT match.

According to the to its being played in Austria. I know it's close bit why?

Anyone know if this is anything like the Czech full national team?,I had to look it up they didn't qualify for the WC.

Crowd size 665. That's without the 10k AFL adjustment.

This is a warm up match. Aussie camp is in Austria. We're playing the Czechs because they didn't qualify. Not a bad performance by the boys so far. 4-0

decent performance and good hitout. congrats to Andrew Naboutt on his debut goal for Australia. it was technically our home game btw, hence the lack of crowd.

16 days til I fly out to Russia.

Good performance.

But against a good team we would have conceded 5 goals.

Defence was opened on many occasions.

We need a mongrel CDM in there. Luongo is a solid player, but isn't your traditional enforcer number 6. Jedinak will probably return for the last friendly, but I'm not convinced he's the man for the job either. he's too slow and can't pass to save his life. and BVM clearly prefers Milligan at CB. Not sure what the solution is tbh. Maybe we stick with Luongo.

final 23:

Daniel ARZANI
Aziz BEHICH
Tim CAHILL
Milos DEGENEK
Jackson IRVINE
Mile JEDINAK
Brad JONES (Gk)
Tomi JURIC
Matthew JURMAN
Robbie KRUSE
Mathew LECKIE
Massimo LUONGO
Jamie MACLAREN
James MEREDITH
Mark MILLIGAN
Aaron MOOY
Andrew NABBOUT
Dimitri PETRATOS
Josh RISDON
Tom ROGIC
Mathew RYAN (Gk)
Trent SAINSBURY
Daniel VUKOVIC (Gk)

the 4 to miss out: Fran Karacic, Josh Brillante, James Troisi, and Nikita Rukavytsya. No real surprises there. I thought Arzani and McLaren would miss out, but I am glad they are in.

Nikita Rukavytsya would be very handy to have around in Russia i reckon at least he might know the Lingo.

Bin Man what happened to Nikita i recall distinctly him being touted as the next biggest thing in the years prior to Rogic, Mooy, Juric etc.

Well done to Arzani Nabout and Petratos.

Massive effort by Arzani who started his first A league game in Jan. Only 19 but a massive talent.

Not sure why Timmy is in the squad though.

just didn't excel overseas. then he came back for a season with WSW and didn't set the world alight. has been playing in Israel for a few years and has done pretty well. He played in the Syria and Honduras playoffs. I personally would have like him in the squad because he has genuine pace (something we lack), but we also have Kruse, Nabbout, Petratos and Arzani that can play LW.

I'll give you a hint as to why he's in the team...

Our squad is so bland we make the Germans look like a Brazilian beach soccer squad.

Both Arzani and Timmy have that something special everyone else lacks. When they have the ball you aren't sure what's going to happen next. Call it X factor if you will. Just a shame one is too young and the other too old.

And why not give Timmy a chance to become the 4th player in history to score a goal in 4 world cups. He's been a very loyal servant to the national team and won plenty of games for us. If he gets the record it might be the only thing we have to celebrate in this world cup.

Cahill couldn't get a game at city and at millwall

He's a 15min specialist. At his age I can see why he doesn't get much game time. But we're talking about our national squad. It's the weakest of our 4 WC campaigns.

Then add in the WC experience he can bring gto the dressing room, Timmy's inclusion is a no brainier.
