Old thread but I just saw it....

from my time I only saw:
M.Mitchell, Pickers, Flea, Brodders and the Shark (naishy).

My favourite was the Shark followed closely by Mitchell...something about him was unbeleivable. Pity he gave it all up early.

As much as it pains me, it has to be Bartlett. I'm still so angry with him about his grudge against the club. If he had an ounce of decency, he would see that now is the time to return and provide some hope for the future. I don't see that happening though.

KB hands down-no one else comes close-converted himself to a goalsneek in the latter part of his cereer. 21 goals in the 1980 finals series confirms his status as one of the best( I believe only genuine KP forwards are above him in this stat).

Lot's of information found in one sentence "om21". Personally, I thought Chris Naish was an ordinary player, who struggled against tough opponents. Sure, he kicked some nice goals, but I'm trying to discover what was so "special". As for giving it up early...Well infact, Port realised what a pussy he was and then delisted him. He later found a spot at Collingwood acting as Mick's runner.

My best goalsneak was Robert Wiley - Pure class around the goals and all over the ground.

I've never seen Bartlett play, but my dad tells me he was a small guy. apparently what he'd do (my dad tends to exaggerate, but you never know) was run into a pack where the ball is about to be called dead, pick it up one hand, show it to three guys, run to the pocket and snap a goal (no matter which foot).

Hall of Famer, too. Gets my vote.

KB 778g, from John Northey 192g and back pocket Roger Dean 204g, with an honourable mention to the Flea 344g, Daffy 181g and Bruce Monteath 198g

Was about to mention Swooper Northey - didn't play as long as KB so career goals are not a guide. John could go all game without a touch, then in 7-10 minutes bang through 5 goals and change the course of the game; and he did it regularly too.

Curtis, was a young bloke walking down Swanston St past town hall in around 1970. My Dee mate said "Look theres KB".
I looked over and saw this little guy and replied, "Bull, that #$&%ing shortass little shrimp would never get a game of VFL footy in a million years."
When we got to the Collins St lights, he turned and looked me right in the eyes. No doubt who it was.
My friend still stirs me to this day
