whats better?

I dont know Morabito has that Jonish quality about him. Maybe a half backline of

Morabito Mcguane and Mcmahon.

:)

Very good question.

Both go along way in solving particular areas for a long, long time.

In pure talent I would go with the centre. I think Trengove would be another asset to have in the engine room.

Having him our forward line will still contain Vickery, Riewoldt and Morton. Three good targets.

In saying that having Butcher makes our forward line a future number one. Vickery, Riewoldt and Butcher will not be out marked and having the class of Morton would make it extremely special. We will be down again next season so another early pick will have more chance nabbing a top line midfielder rather than another forward.

This draft should be valuable for us.

It depends if we want to win a premiership sometime in the future. With the exception of the West Coast every team that has won it for at least the last decade etc has had at least one high quality power forward. Assuming Butcher is worthy of pick 3 and he is available and we don't pick him, the question has to be where are we going to find one? (again look at Footscray toying with the idea of drafting Barry Hall - they are very hard to come by). The deeper into the draft the harder they are to find, harder at any rate than finding quality midfielders. All I can say is we are going to have to have one hell of a midfield if we think a forward structure of Riewoldt and morton alone are going to do it (for what it's worth I still believe Vickery was drafted as a ruckman).

At this stage that Trengrove is a safer bet in that you know what to expect. Naturally Butcher has plenty of development ahead of him at this age. If his relatively poor showing this year came down to injuries, he may yet become a fantastic player.

While Trengrove would be brilliant alongside Lids, Cotch and Collins (in another year or two), it'd be hard to knock back a forward who could potentially dominate games. A forward line including Jack, Butcher, Morton, Nahas and possibly Gilligan? Then include Big V resting up there, and the Postman as another option. That forward line would provide any opposition coach headaches in the future. You WILL NOT be able to keep all of them quiet.

As Bob was saying, mid-fielders are easier to find on a regular basis, so if we don't find one with our second pick (which may go on a solid key defender?), we target one next year (along with a another key defender).

It is really up to Melbourne though as I can't see them passing on both. Whichever is still available at three.
