I am seriously getting sick of them. GEt lost trying ot find posts and topics, end up in different spots when some arent even relevant to other areas. Does it realyl matter if we have a lot of different threads?

If you offered to help when it was requested you'd be qualified to have a sook shawry. What was it, 3 threads? Boo Hoo. As it is you haven't offered to help in any way so you can like it or leave it. Moderating this site is a massive job aftger a flogging. Not a very pleasant task at all. There is no point in the forum being spammed with sensless threads due to posters inability to cope with losses. We've even had threads started deliberately wanting them to be removed. As if we don't have enough to do with out time. Don't like the way the forum is run then feel free to pack your bags.

This thread has been moved from DyerTribe. Quite ironic that it was posted on an inappropriate board.

If people think we should remove the designated boards and just have one massive one for everything feel free to state your case and if numbers warrant it we'll consider it. As long as we have designated boards they should be used.

As for merging it's an effort to keep a very busy forum tidy and easier to follow. For example did we really need discussions on crowd numbers happening on 5 separate threads?

I can guarantee you you're nowhere near as sick of merged threads as I am of merging 20 new threads (which are far from warranting their own thread) after every loss. It makes the forum hard to read as any meaningful topic gets shoved onto the 2nd or 3rd page and you have to sift through thread after thread of inane drivel.

You should lock the forum down for 6 hours after a loss and only allow posting in existing threads. And a FAQ on how to use topic search on the front page.

This is one reason why I have suggested a tooltip mod be considered for this forum. The idea is that the first sentence (or so) of a post pops when you run the mouse pointer over a topic. Incidentally, big footy already use this feature. The benefit is that readers can quickly ascertain what any given thread is actually about and should (hopefully) help them decide what topics are already covered.

hope this is constructive and thanks to everyone who works hard moderating the site

Appreciate all points of view on this. I agree mods do spend a lot of time doing this stuff and is often unappreciated (yes I probably unappreciate the reasons why you do it). I do appreciate you putting time in however. I personally find it more difficult trying ot follow threads when they ahve been moderated but if the consensus think it is easier I am happy to go with it. I jsut find I get lost when a trhead moves, can miss posts on a thread I ahve been following and find it difficult. As mentioned if the majority think it is more useful merging threads then I am ahppy t ogo with it. Was jsut questioning the reasons for merging of threads, nothing more nothing less.

Again thanks to all for their input.

i don't think anyone would want to swap positions with you at those times Rosy.

Thankfully we have Disco08 on board during footy season Phil. I doubt anyone would realise what a huge effort it is to keep this site appearing to run effortlessly. :rofl

Is there a way you can add threads to a favourites?
There's a few threads that arent stickied that I like to read here and there and sometimes going through pages and/or doing a painful search is too much effort :p

Bookmark them. Trick is to bookmark them when you click on the "new" graphic so you always go to the last unread post.

Pleasure mexican.

I haven't looked into it so am not sure we have the powers to add that feature. I suspect some would find it annoying.  Most threads meander through various subjects anyway.  A clearly defined heading is probably the best way to alert people to the intended thread content imo.

On the cusp of promotion Baloo, the first thing I do in my own office is bookmark the sh!t out of these threads.

Cool, and discounts for all PREers. Good stuff ;)

Yep, not bad ideas IMO.
