So will these guys make up the 2012 draft? I've heard that it will be the next 'super-draft'.

As always, some will, some won't.

It's more of a resource to reflect on, when we look at juniors' histories prior to the 2012 draft.

Thanks Phantom. Where are World XV111 from?

World team to join under-16 champs
9:29 AM Fri 11 June, 2010

HAVING been involved in football for more than two decades Michael O’Loughlin has faced plenty of big challenges.

And next month the Sydney Swans' legend is fronting up for another one when he takes charge of the World XVIII at the NAB AFL Under-16 Championships, which will be played at Blacktown in Western Sydney from July 3-10.

O’Loughlin’s team will be made up of youngsters from a range of nations including Lebanon, Canada, China, South Africa and Sudan along with a number of local footballers from multicultural backgrounds.

Gee I hope Prince Nematswerani makes it.

South Pacific being competitive would indicate a few PNGians/Fijians are set to be drafted in the next decade. Great to see.

Nice to see Chris Yarran dropping back from Carlton to a standard more suited to him getting a kick. ;D

Phantom is there any father son’s players playing in the comp? Just interested as the Bulldogs this year will be 2 players that would have been in the top 25 picks.

Libba & Wallis are the twoo obvoius ones.

There maybe a 3rd & 4th Footscray too, although their fathers may not have played enough games, Groenewegen from Tassie, and Smedts from the Falcons.

Also, young Murphy from NSW, I remember his dad running around with South, pre Sydney, with the likes of Browning, Quade & Morrison.

The Chargers have the younger Gotch boy.

And Jimmy Buckley's son is running around with Sandy.

There're a couple of grandsons, I believe, of some legends too.
Walker with the Falcons, we know, but Kavanaugh with the Jets is more of a hunch.
With Kavanaugh, if I'm right, his grandad didn't have the same surname.

Anyway, there the ones I know, and I haven't been close at all to the action this year.
There may be others that I've missed.

There's also a Daniher with Calder

Jack Viney, Todds son?

Yes, sorry, the ones I noted above were from the U18s, not U16s.

So many threads, so easy to get confused!

Did you see any of these games?

Sam Autio was prominent for NT - whom I have had a little to do with - he is tall and lanky but I think he will be a player in a few years. When I last spoke to him he was going to GWS. Did Willy Rioli play for NT? - if he did I am surprised he was not in the bests. I suspect Jed Anderson is brother of Joe Anderson of Carlton.

No. My recollection is that all the games were played in Blacktown in West Sydney.

How about Slim Collins from the South Pacific.

Come to think of it, don't we have a Slim Collins already :headscratch

Bump, for relevant review.

It's really interesting seeing some of the guys who have dropped off like Atkins/Yarran. Irra starting out as a World XVIII player now looks like being a National Draftee.
