Trent Cotchin on SEN

Have a listen. He was on this morning.

What a champ! Least awkward interview ive heard from the great man. I love my music and I love the magic that happens when a group of individuals get together and make something incredible. I think the same can be said for cotch, dimma, peggy, benny and balmy. The coming together of great football people that i am so grateful to have witnessed has made the perfect storm so we can all share in this fantastic era.

He's a bit of a smooth operator Cotch. Always calm and measured replies.
It's amazing how calming and soothing 2 Flags very close together can be.
And the hunger is still there.
And the love for his team mates.
I think they are just about the most together in sync bunch of blokes on a list ever.
End of.

The kid has been all class from the first day he arrived at the club.
I would personally like to thank Carlton Football Club on selecting Kresuer

Big test for him over the coming weeks. Has to ask why aren't you following me like you did last three years? And Cotchs effort not questioned but disposals have hardly been cutting opponents up....probably symptomatic of our poor system... Good Options just not there at times.

He was good but like you said very unCotchin like. Very ineffective.

It is part of the dilemma. He is our two time premiership captain. Led us back from the wilderness. Instilled a club culture at the forefront of the league.

Yet his disposal is woeful, and a key part of a midfield that is not even breaking even. I reckon it is the older blokes with families that have struggled to maintain the rage during the lockdown that have dropped off.

I don't know what to think.

I wasn't brave enough to stick my neck out on the family thing..... But I had been thinking how Jack and Cotch had been vocal on this issue so clearly it is on their mind. Wondering if it is permeating like the virus itself through the players?
Eagles were other club I was aware of who made it an issue...look at them now,
i will back Cotch to lead them well. this year flag is still up for grabs...

Good Options just not there at times.

I think this is a big part of it, and not just for Cotch. When Richmond players have been in a tight spot over the last 3 years there has been an out, a player nearby in support. Or not even that, if the ball is just kicked or handpassed out, the opposition player might be there to receive but they would be under pressure, less so at the moment. The support for the player with possession just seems to be missing at the moment.

Cotchin..

I always had doubts who will be willing to go into hubs at the club and this sort of proves that we are taking the WC approach to this season.
Houli won't go.
Jack maybe
Cotchin has 3 little kids at home
Dusty looks disinterested
Grimes has his farm to look after
Castagna won't go if teddy can't come.

Maybe my dream of getting a game for this great club is still alive.

If cotchy is being quoted accurately,

As in 'some players may not go into hubs .... our partners welbeing is the most important thing'

Then 1. We are zero chance to win any flag this year. Id even go so far as End Of Dynasty. And
2. If players didnt play and continued to be paid, id seriously reveiw my financial contribution to RFC. I wish the players partners all the very best, but they are a long way from the most important thing to me. The most important thing to me is winning premierships. Players get paid for this imho, not to play monopoly with the kids.

Its highly likely cotch is being misquoted on this. Its the HS after all. Jeez i hope so

If players choose not to play, they should be treated like any other employee who is unable to work. They are stood down on zero pay or at least a retainer pay of up to 20%.

But I would look at the brightside of the situtation. Agree, we can discount any premiership this year but, looking beyond, getting games into some of the next layer of kids can't be a bad thing. We also open ourselves up to a decent draft pick that we can use alongside MRJ this year.

I have no issues with the players making it a personal choice. We've won 2 premierships on the back of being intune to the feelings of people that matter most to us, especially partners and families. If for whatever reason they decide they need to stay back, then I'll take it on face value.

Will it usck? Yeah. Will I hold it against them and the club? No.

Is that on the record somewhere? I thought it was more about playing with freedom, being more in the moment and not dwelling on mistakes etc? Isn't that what mindfulness was all about, being present and in the moment?

You beat me to it Ezy. Spot on with what you are saying. This could explain a fair bit about our games of late.

You should read Konrad's first book. Being connected with each other is what was at the core of everything. Now everyone in AFL land talks about connection

sorry eZyT - I couldn’t disagree more.

I think the players are entitled to work out what is important to them and then to make decisions accordingly.

Personally, from my perspective, family and health and wellbeing are far more important than work, and if thats what Cotch is saying then I applaud. If that means some of them don’t participate in hubs then I think that is not the easy option for them to make, but much harder decision imo, to stand up to those in power because of what you believe.

Go Cotch.

Look I am not enjoying footy at the moment and I don’t want to see our tigers travel to a hub and then play miserably like the weagles - that would be just to hard to watch.

If it comes to hubs, and the tigers can get 25 or 30 players to put their hand up then that’s great, if not, then we move on to next season.

Each to their own but if this season has taught me one thing, there is more to life than footy (did I say that).
