This week is turning into one of the most difficult, saddest and emotional weeks for most of us on this site. This evident by the wondefully touching and moving tributes that have been posted by everyone over the last few days.

But this week is also about something else.

This week is about celebrating what is so good about this Club that we all share a passion for. It also about saying thank you to a man who gave everything he had to the Richmond Football Club and helped shape it into a Club of great honour, tradition and passion. The values and culture that we have held so dear for so long and that everyone so desperately wants to retain.

These are things that other Clubs can only dream of.

I know there are many people on this site and out in the public that are really angry at the RFC at the moment.

But this week isn't about that and it shouldn't be about that.

This week isn't about Danny Frawley and what people think of him - actually this week it doesn't matter and shouldn't matter.

This week is about Jack Dyer and honouring the great legacy he has given every single one of us.

So I am imploring people to get to the MCG this Sunday and honour Jack Dyer. Sing our song with the passion he showed on the field, scream at the top of your lungs because The Captain in heaven deserves it.

As you say KL. This week is different to most weeks.

We have so much to be proud of and grateful for. And sometimes we just need to stop and reflect on that.

The qualities that we, as Richmond people, admire most in others are the qualities that Jack Dyer possessed.

We admire those who survive tough times and conditions, yet still retain their character, spirit and zest for life.

We think we have tough times now, but Jack Dyer is a reminder of how tough and resilient you needed to be to survive in his time growing up and as a player. Jack Dyer retained his character and personality throughout his career and life. And that is something for anyone to be proud of and inspired by.

He is a great reminder of why this Club means so much to people.

People like Jack Dyer come along once in a life time. Celebrate his life, his memory and his great spirit.

I think this week is about the true culture of the Richmond Football Club. You will see the yellow & black army their tomorrow paying a tribute to an absolute legend which no one can take away from us.

And these none Richmond people at the club now will take notice that without these true, loyal supporters and legends you don't have a footy club and that no one will ever come into comparison as this man.

What I want from this day on and to be proven to me this Sunday, that anyone that pulls on that yellow & black jumper it should be a priviledge to wear it!!!

That when our team takes the field that winning is everything and to win at all costs i want that to be back in our football club. That being mediocre is totally unacceptable as its not the Jack Dyer culture which means its also not the R.F.C. culture either and finally I want not one Hawthorn player to get an easy kick that he has to earn everyone he gets. And that when he walks or hobbles off the field after the game that he is so battered and bruised like he's been to battle.

Thats what I want so we can be that infamous and revered club again.

GO THE MIGHTY TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let this week be forever remembered as the time Jack DYER inspired the Tigers to another era of greatness.

There would be no greater tribute to a great man. God knows he deserves that final honour.

Fantastic post KL.

I would love to see nothing more then the MCG filled with Yellow and Black supporters yelling at the top of thier lungs, urging the boys on to win. - JD would have loved that.

I never got the privilage of seeing Jack Dyer play, but its amazing the impact one person can make on a club. I never saw him play, but i know what he means to the RFC an i know what jack did for the game itself. He was a true legend.

Great post KL.

I will go out on a limb here and say that I reckon the Tigers will win this week.

Reading about Captain Blood and reliving the glory days certainly makes you walk taller and makes you feel that you can do almost anything. I hope the entire 22 players that take the field this Sunday in the yellow and black get caught up in the same emotion. Because if they do, I reckon they will come out breathing fire and play with a passion and commitment that we have seen all too rarely this year.

Eat Em Alive Tigers!

Well done Lil, I feel a bit like KB I have kept quiet on these boards for a while because of the posting of a few, but today of all days I will not be quiet.

I grew up in a small contry town of Ecklin, we had a footy team (they played on the oval on my paremts farm) that played each Saturday. The whole family went to the matches, when we came home we sat around and old 15 inch B&W ate Tast and Tomato/Chicken Noodle soup (depended on what packet/can mum openned) and wacthed the Big League replay on 7.

Sunday we watched , World Of Sport the great Man would be there on the Panel and he would hold court. Taking about his playing days, asking real questions (take notice Sammy>Ed) of the players and getting honest answers. In a family of Essendon fans, a small tiger grew mainly because of Jack

Jack -
I'll miss you, your Jackisms and remember without the great Captain Blood there would be no TV panel shows (all are just poor imitations of WOS). Look out for the Captain , god, he is a real trasure

I was asked on Monday by people at work how we should celebrate Jack's passing this is what I came up on
I have sent this same details to Punt Road and as of yet am yet to receive a reply.

Attempt to get every living Tiger footballer to the ground , take over the AFL members section and before the match parade them on the ground. Those that cant walk drive them out , otherwise let them walk the ground. I mean all the players KB included. This is too big for petty grudges.

Bring out each Premiership flag and fly them at half mast for the entire day, and on the crane at the ponsford stand fly a flag with the Number 17 jumper.

For all those Richmond fans out there get your butt into gear and go to the match. It doesn't matter if you disagree with Danny or the Listed team just go. Lets pack that stadium with Yellow and Black. Bring your family friends , or anyone that will listen. Just go

LETS ROAR

KHAN

Well put Khan, i couldn't agree more.

I hope Punt Road reply and agree with doing something like that regarding the players, and the flags as you said this is too big for petty grudges.

I'll be there in my yellow and black sitting amoungst the army, lets hope we out weigh those hawks 5:1.

Thanks for replying

What Jack means to all generations of Tigers is beyond approach. Teddy Whitten may have been Mister Footbal and the Big V rolled into one. But jack was/is the timeless Capatin Blood. Courage personified, strong willed out an out tough.

Watch out you demons in Hell, the footsteps you hear are the Mighty Jack Dyer and this time he is playing for the Angels.
Lets Roar

Khan

Top post Khan. Hope the Club replies and takes onboard your ideas for Sunday or something along those lines. Would be a wonderful tribute.

Khan,

I believe the plan is to get as many past players to the CLub this week. I am pretty sure I read in the paper that the intend to parade a number of premiership players before the game.

KL

I dont want names Lill I want any Tiger Player (first, resereves under ninteens anyone who has pulled on the famous sash). The premiership players are great but I want a sea of black and yellow not a specalling. We have had thousands of players over the years if all of those that could turn up did what a magnificent site that would be. You could bring them on under each decade if you want.

I have been emotional all day over this and unfortunatly I couldn't attend. I have even gone so far as to send the first post out to any sports based show on the radio. and the footy show(both codes) as well. I want the MCG full on Sunday, I WANT us to sing the song win lose or draw. This is that important.

I agree it is that important Khan - I think the idea is to get as many players there as they can.

As I said one very first post on this thread - I am imploring people to get the MCG this Sunday - we owe it to Jack Dyer
