It seems to me that whilst injuries have hurt us pretty bad this year, to the point of probably only having our best team on the park a few times this year. If you go through all club's lists, it's a similar problem and always will be, given the nature of the game.

But what is really hurting us is the second and to a lesser extent the third, tier players simply aren't good enough.

But then this cascades into the fact that these guys are getting big money, which restricts our hand with TPP, hence inability to attract a wider range of quality players.

Throw into that (I think Im right here) that this year, we were still paying $$$ for Messrs Bourke and Daffy, it hurts.

The Administration that signed these 2nd tier guys (ala Biddiscombe to a 3 year contract) on top dollars should be shot.

Like I said after the Carlton game, I'm sure Mr MILLER has been taking furious notes during the year and I expect to see a cleanout of players and to another extent, in the Football department staff. That's why we got to him to make these decisions.

I suspect it will be the 'Summer of Discontent' at Punt Road, which is a long time coming. Id rather get rid of 6-8 duds and replace them with 1 gun and 6-7 kids.

Not a bad suggestion Skid, I remember it working for Collingwood in 1990. A couple of years earlier they had a few retirements so they kept a few key veterans like Daicos, Shaw, Millane and brought in a heap of youngsters like Christian, Crosisca, Starcevich, Monkhorst and Russell. I remember in 88 I considered them a team of nobodies but then over the next couple of years the skilled veterans shaped these young kids into a premiership winning side. Mind you they also had a pretty good coach in Leigh Matthews. It's a pretty simple formula but it works.
