Gold Coast (SE - QLD).
Great win v Adelaide

so

As the guys continue to come back from injury, and the next gen kids are really showing the good stuff.

And we’ve got 6 to 8 very winnable games in the final 10

That’s going to push us up the ladder away from the first few picks (Cotchin and Martin draft territory).

I’m hoping we’ll put up a big show with the next gen kids, whilst still adding more in the off season.

But if we’ve got to be extra extra cautious with older players as the season goes…

I don’t know if anyone recalls what Carlton did to get Judd through the door (which never got them anywhere haha)

And don’t forget how hard we recruited post 2016, and what happened next.

The RFC does go out to win every game it plays and that’s what I almost always support.

This thread will get both kinds of opinions
Yes and no

I’m saying … let’s be really good and also continue educating the youngsters… without running the older guys into the ground, when we mathematically can’t make it

We don’t want to be missing out on the draft gold.

On the other hand if we can make a late season charge like 10 years ago (2014) then let’s do that

It is a bit of a no brainer really. We don't have a culture which would permit the Melbourne like tanking, that occurred some years back.
Rather our player's, coaches and most fans prefer a full hearted effort. Thats what we will get, while not necessarily picking our best team as younger players are given an opportunity to come through..

We have seen quite a few already. Hoping now to see Blight, Coulthard, Gray, McAuliffe and Smith get games.

with the cavalry returning and if they remain on the park it's going to be tough to bottom out...

I disagree with your initial premise that we have 6-8 very winnable games. I think we'll be lucky to win 3 of those games.

In which case the ladder position (nee draft order) will take care of itself. We'll be in for a top 3 pick at worst. So, I'm not sure we have to strategize team line-ups to mask tanking to ensure that outcome by semi-devious means.

Time to develop strategy to finish 2nd last in next 10 games.

At least 2 more interstate. We play Aints and foldnorf at home at their home at the Dump.

We play most top 8 teams.

I thought I was the most pessimistic of all posters here. I think most here severely overrate the competition.

I thought we were a big chance last night. They are crap without Tex firing.

We can't use the injury reason any more. {Tommy back after bye.)
Which means we are likely to win another 4 or 5.
So lets say about 7 wins for the season.
Our first draft pick may well be around pick 3 based on Hawthorn 2023, pick 4 based on Essendon 2022.

I think we might see 1 of the bigger gaps between 17th and 18th that we have seen in recent years.

Just did a ladder predictor and have us finishing on 5 wins. Adelaide in 16th with 6 and a half wins, West Coast in 15th with 7 wins.

We would need to finish on 7 wins and improve our percentage to finish above 17th from what it looks like.

Thats 5 more wins and we have 10 games left. Not sure I see us doing that.

Hawks (H) - Had this down as a win in my predictor - but is a genuine 50/50 but reckon we get up for Dusty
Carlton (H) - We potentially could beat them especially with Lynch back but I suspect we will lose by a small margin
Freo (A) - Whilst we play Optus well, Freo should be too strong for us
GWS (H) - This is a genuine 50/50 I reckon, they should be too good, but we play well against the Giants
Port (A) - Again we play well at Adelaide Oval but they should be too strong for us if they want to play finals
Collingwood (A) - They should beat us if they get their best players back who should be back by then
North (A) - We don't play well against them, especially at the dump but they are rubbish - I have this down as a win
Saints (H) - Again we don't play well at the dump, I expect them to beat us there
Hawks (A) - I think they are better than us right now, with no Dusty 300th reckon they beat us
GCS (H) - They don't travel well, we probably beat them

In the ladder predictor I included wins against Hawks, North and GCS.
We most likely lose to Freo and Collingwood.
Leaving Carlton (H), GWS (H), Port (A), Saints (at the dump)_and Hawks (A).
We can win 2 of those 5 and still likely to finish 2nd bottom or 3rd bottom as I think West Coast get 7 wins. Adelaide are an enigma, I have them on 6 and a half wins but could easily pick 1 of those losses up as a win and then we still finish 17th on 7 wins.

Surely when players like Smith, mccaulife play only 15 minutes, they could and should play vfl, does it happen.

Well the last bloke we took at 3 goes alright.
