Ten Long Years

Ten years ago today, I moved into PRE. I had been floating around various locations, which as Rosy have mentioned, were littered with popups and various other issues, and PRE provided a real home for the Richmond faithful. Over the ten years I have moved from ardent activist to interested viewer but still enjoy the passionate yet friendly environment the forum provides.
Thanks to Rosy for providing an awesome place for us, it is easy to underestimate the affect that PRE has had on the many Richmond fans - but the fact that a decade later PRE endures is a testament to the community it provides. I feel like the voice PRE provides to members has contributed to the improvement of the club as a whole.
Lets hope the next ten years is more interesting and successful than the first decade, and thanks to all who have entertained me over the years.

Thanks for the kind words. I agree with all you say. PRE is so many things to different people but the fact it's used so extensively shows it plays a big part in many lives. We're like a big, eclectic Richmond family sharing the highs and lows. Soon the highs will hopefully far outnumber the lows.

We have to move hosts soon and running the site is going to be a lot more costly. I weighed up the options and for a split second thought of giving PRE a miss...then thought no way...it would be like making a lot of people suddenly homeless. I also wondered what some would do at work without PRE.

rosy, have you looked into hosting the site over here? Godaddy is cheap, very good (service and server quality) and... cheap. Not sure what server spec you need, let me know if I can help.

Nice post Hutster, agreed. If I had a buck for every time over the last 10 years that I have jumped to reduce the PRE window so I'm not caught bludging at work, or the amount of times my girlfriend/ neice/ nephew/ mates have said to me at home 'you were on puntroad again weren't you?', I'd be an even richer man.
