Hi all. I've been a bit bored at work lately and needed something to pass the time. I got to thinking about the period since our last premiership to now and how ordinary we have been. Probably our worst period ever with wooden spoon 'wins' equalling our finals series appearances in that time. I started to wonder about the players we've had in that time and even though we've had plenty of dud teams, we've had a few champions, not just of our club but of the league. I started to put together a 'best of' team from the last 25 years.
Please keep in mind that my shrink said it was ok to repress memories from our dark period in the late 80's-early 90's ;D so I may have missed a few decent players from that time. I've included club champions, all-Australians, decent servants of the club and some fan favourites. I struggled to fill some positions and named a few slightly (hopefully) out of position. The only criteria I used was that it doesn't include anyone who played in a premiership for Richmond. I didn't want to make it too easy! ;D
I welcome any debate (let's keep it friendly please :) )and alterations, as long as they follow that 1 criteria.

Backs: Jamie Tape Darren Gaspar Duncan Kellaway
H Backs: Stuart Maxfield Scott Turner Andrew Kellaway
Centre: Michael Mitchell Maurice Rioli Wayne Campbell
H Forward: Michael Pickering Matthew Richardson Nick Daffy
Forwards: Nathan Brown Jeff Hogg Chris Naish
Ruck: Brendon Gale Matthew Knights Craig Lambert
I/C: Tony Free Brad Ottens Paul Broderick Kane Johnson
Coach: John Northey

Apologies if I've left some out (Lounder, Laffy etc) but these were the best I could think of and filing some positions was extremely difficult.
Let the debate (arguments!) begin.

That would be a pretty handy team. Throw in the spirit Northey had the team playing with and it's a potential premiership combination.
It's not a lot of top players over 25 years though. I've got a mind like a sieve when it comes to past players but it would be good to read another dozen or so pressing for selection.

Would have Jimmy Jess at CHB before Bowden who isnt even a CHB there momentai but nice effort.

Hard to pick a side full of players who havent carried RFC to much success.

Jess was a champ and certainly has played more at CHB than Joel.
However I don't think he came close to a B&F? For mine Joel has played his best footy over the last two years at CHB and has done especially well on the oppositions top liners..Brown, Hall, Treadrea. Nah I think I'll stick with him. ;D

Turner just edged out Jimmy on the emerg bench in my side largely because he was one of the best exponents of the shirtfront in the game in the last 50 years. As I have said previously I love Terry's effort to get some of the oldies down to training. Our shepparding? has been virtually non existent since Scotty retired. Would love to see him working with Cogs, Lids and Tucky etc.
