Richmond still considering sponsorship offers
by STAFF REPORTERS
Richmond is continuing to consider approaches from companies looking to replace the Transport Accident Commission as the club's major sponsor.
The TAC pulled its sponsorship this month after youngster Jay Schulz was caught for drink driving and speeding.
Last week, phone dealer Crazy John was linked to the club, but nothing has been confirmed.
Tigers president Clinton Casey told thebladder.com.au that the club would seek out a sponsor that was "a good fit".
"In retrospect, with the number of times one of our players has disregarded the road rules, the TAC probably wasn't a great fit for our club," Casey said. "So, when looking at the companies that approach us for major sponsorship, we're going to see whether the company reflects our values at Richmond."
Pressed for further information, Casey named some of the front-running companies. These include Pacific Share Investments, whose motto is "To begin with promise, underperform and leave you disappointed" and Soyariffic Soy Bean products, whose products feature the tag line "Serving you with bland mediocrity for more than 20 years".
Negotiations are also believed to be well down the track with Copper Platt Inc Investment Opportunities, an independent investment company that has spluttered and been slow to keep pace with the opposition in the midfield of the investment industry for the last decade.
Several Richmond board members are also believed to be independently chasing a sponsor for spearhead Matthew Richardson as an alternative income source. Mortein has been approached, as the Tigers believe there could be ample promotional opportunities between the spray company and Richo in front of goal.
