Tonight the curtain drops on yet another season for our beloved Tigers. Win lose or draw the '09 is finished for us.
Seems just like yesterday we were posting on here with great expectations and hope for the year. Where has the year gone?? Some will say to hell in a basket, and that's not far from the truth. Remember how we fronted up for that first defining match against the dreaded foe, Carlton. And how we left with a bitter taste in our mouths.
The loss to Melbourne and all and sundry were calling for the head of Terry Wallace. That happenend and a new day was dawning with Jade Rawlings our new white hope for the remaining games, albeit as a caretaker only. Many were suggesting he should get the full time gig. That soon turned sour as we continued to be so mediocre. Many names were thrown around for the next Tiger coach, even Sheeds looked likely at one stage. We should appoint a seasoned coach said some, others opted for a younger man.
Quietly, even the great Leigh Matthews got a mention here and there, but overall, PREnders were hoping for Damien Hardwick to get the job, and so it turned out. Overwhelming, there were calls for the list to be savagely cut and the results of that scenario will be known before long.
So, another frustrating year comes to a close tonight for us, and once again we look to next year with hope and expectations for a better 2010.
Vale 2009.
