Based on the topic below http://www.puntroadend.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=23994.0 the stat differences that best determine ladder position are inside 50's, uncontested possessions and long kicks. Richmonds top 10 in these categories (average per game) are:

RANK INSIDE 50 AVE
1 Kayne Pettifer 5.2
2 Greg Tivendale 4.7
3 Cameron Howat 3.6
4 Shane Tuck 3.6
5 Brett Deledio 3.6
6 Matthew Richardson 3.1
7 Nathan Brown 3.1
8 Troy Simmonds 2.9
8 Nathan Foley 2.9
10 Chris Hyde 2.8
RANK UNCONTESTED POS AVE
1 Joel Bowden 20.6
2 Shane Tuck 19.6
3 Mark Coughlan 19.5
4 Patrick Bowden 18.5
5 Brett Deledio 18.4
6 Cameron Howat 18.2
7 Andrew Raines 17.9
8 Greg Tivendale 17.8
9 Chris Hyde 16.7
10 Kane Johnson 16.1
RANK LONG KICKS AVE
1 Matthew Richardson 5.7
2 Kayne Pettifer 5.2
3 Greg Tivendale 5.0
3 Cameron Howat 5.0
5 Joel Bowden 4.7
6 Brett Deledio 4.5

I reccomend a visit  to the Pro-Stats site at to search on your own preferred stats

For the darksiders its easy to see why Tivendale is retained. For the bright siders its a lot harder to make a case for Krak.

Well done to Cam Howatt (5 games) who along with Tuck, is one of only two players in the top 10 for each category.

Interesting to note that TW in a recent article on Sydney says that Sydney try very hard to shut down your top inside 50 and goal assist players. I would like to have goal assist and goal chain stats but can't find any for free. The closer the stat is related to the most important stat difference "points for and against", the more interested I get.

You missed Tiva...he's in all three top 10's as well...just to annoy the dark-siders a little bit more ;)

Any figures on the effectiveness of these stats...I mean, a Tivendale left foot spearing ball that falls short to a charging Richo is a bad delivery, but is still counted as an inside 50...

Inside 50 stat is over rated, even Wayne Carey states as to be the case.

I tend to think that way too craigybabes.  Inside 50 supposedly gives more chances but doesn't mean much if the ball is cleared out again straight away as so often happens.

Effective inside 50, ie resulting in a score, would be more relevant. Would love to see a breakdown of the results of our inside 50's.

I rate an inside 50 very highly at no 3: just behind goals scored and wins achieved
Wins achieved, especially finals wins would be the most important, and in fact the only relevant stat. The rest are just excuses and debating points.
Also interesting to compare the best and fairest top 10 with these lists.
