Richmonds 2007 top 10 players

Dunno ft. I hope a few put their hands up who we wouldn't even consider top 10 at this stage.

I think our most important player is Simmo and whatever we achieve this season will largely depend on his fitness.

Who do you think our top 10 are?

Hard to list 10 at this stage but I think Schulz and Patto could be the yardstick for our season.

In no particular order....

Brownie, Richo, Simmo, Schulz, Patto, Pettifer, Lids, J.Bowden, Rainesy, Tuck, Sugar

Hard to argue with both these posts. We will really need some of the 'unheralded' players to step up to have a top eight season. My ten would be 1. Simmo 2. Sugar 3. Brown 4. Richo 5 Deledio 6. J Bowden and then we need 7. Polak 8. Tuck 9. Schulz and 10. Pettifer to play up to their potential. Should Thursfield, Kingsley, P Bowden, Hartigan and Newman have consistent years, I think we see finals action, albeit not Grand Final action. Important for the backline to stand up and not give away those three or four goals in five minutes that lose us the game. Hence I think Polak, Newman, Hartigan and Thursfield are really important to us.

As an aside, which two rookies will get the nod? Howatt would seem to be a certainty but has Jake King got a chance filling the other spot?

i would have to agree i attended the richmond melbourne game and was extremely happy with jake king not only was he as fast as davies he also manned him beautifully and in the end i beleve would of got more possesions i beleive it is a hard desision between him and howart

my top ten would be... in no particular order

richo, brownie, polak, tuck, shulz, petifer, lids, bowden, johnson, simmo

and allthough many good players missed out i think i should also mention raines hartigan newman foley meyer white as these young players are crucial in the succsess of richmond this year, if they perform at a high standard we will definatly been playing in finals.....which i beleive this year that we should be

Think that will depend on how our tall stocks are verdon. It would be great if Gus was the kind of player that relishes a challenge and really went ahead if promoted.

I think the thing against Jake is we already have a few similar players, well from what I've read on here at least, who might be ahead of him.

I wouldn't be surprised if we only promoted one rookie at a time, considering the unnecessary expense of elevating them before they're ready to play.

I suppose that's the point. Howatt was good last year and pre season has lived up to that. From watching Jake (I saw the game against Sydney), he is also ready to play. Obviously he did ok against Melbourne and against Sydney beat O'Loughlin all day and even kept Goodes quiet for 10 minutes when he had to stand him. He has the build, physique and maturity to play senior football now. From my perspective these two are more ready for senior football than some of the 'under developed' players on the list who, against Sydney, looked under sized and not quite strong enough yet for the rigours of senior AFL football.

All of these players are good, what is wrong is that, all are short in there positions, Terry has got us good players since 2004, but all are short, the trouble being we really need Tall players, Our shorts would be so much better if they had some talls, to help them. I looked at Terrys players since 2004, all short for they position, why
I do not know? Terry Wallace ,Greg Miller and Francis Jackson, please get some tall help for your players, or leave your position. Last year no tall full back at all, this year no rucks at all, Get 2 tall full backs like Rance,Gaertner or Tayte Pears, or Croft. 3 Rucks Like Matthew Kreuzer.McEoy, Sullivan.Renton. Simpson.

Yours Furycat

I've a Bulldog supporter mate who has always complained about the lack of size in the teams created by Wallace. I hope Wallace is adaptable enough to realise the need for tall timber.

HI all. I am just a new member but would like to give this a go!

My top ten..and probably not anyone elses!

1 Mathew Richardson..for his sheer hard work
2 Chris Newman severely under rated. Would have to be the most accurate and reliable user of the ball we have.
3 Deledio...beautiful to watch
4 Graeme Pollack...great mark
5 Jake King..tough little guy
6 Joel Bowden. even though he drives me nuts with some silly decisions
7Upcoming star for us Shane Edwards
8 Will Thursfield. becoming a very reliable back man
9 Nathan Foley...he is fast but has to learn to dispose of ball better.,,and before he gets caught!!
10 Sugar..cos he is the quiet achiever

these may not be in the exact right order but they are my top players:)
