Review of Sunday Afternoon.
Let me say Sunday was a nerve racking day. Usually I'm a fairly introverted person so it didn't come easy, and I really am not a good public speaker. To the person on the website who referred to me as dressed like a beggar, I take great offense to. I dressed in a suit that was only a year old, clean working boots (it was the football), wore a black jumper (it was cold), and was cleanly shaven. Can't help it if I'm not good looking.
Everyone was well behaved. I stood there quietly collecting signatures. I probably spent too much time talking to the press and not enough time collecting signatures. Maybe this prevented me from getting the 100 signatures. At the start of the game we locked all the papers in the car and went off to watch the game. I didn't feel it was right to collect signatures from people just after we'd lost. People would sign in spite and regret it the next morning.
Alot of people spoke to me there are two matters that I was told about that I spent last night debating about whether to repeat them or not, but I've decided to.
1. The first allegation is that the deficit now is no longer at $2million dollars. It has now blown out to $2.5 million, and God help us what it will be by the time effective management steps in. It raises the question about what duties the AFL have as trustees over the competition to allow this situation to occur without stepping in.
2. The other allegation is that Casey has underwritten his own personal position at the club with the Jack Dyer Foundation. If this allegation is true then this means that under Casey's administration the club can lose as much money as up to the founation, and if RFC keels over Casey doesn't lose a cent.
Quite honestly I believe that the AFL are being negligent if they don't step in and investigate what is going on.
The other issues are:
1. The need for assistance in collecting signatures later this week against Carlton. I propose to be located at the stadium end of the footbridge that begins at the top of the escalators leading from Spencer Street station. Game starts at 7.30. I'll start at 5.30. I hope I've explained that clearly.
2. The need to collect signatures from non-Melbourne based members. I shall put the final version of the petition on the website shortly. Those who want to copy and paste this final version onto a page, and print their full name, full address, and memberhip number on the sheet with a signature and date and then fax it to me on +61396464709.
As for the game, well we slowed in the last 10 minutes of the second quarter and allowed Fremantle to get back into the game. In the second half we stopped and they kept on running. We had one big man only (Hall) in the defense, and only one effective big man in attack (Richardson). They had plenty of big men and lots of good hard runners.
I can't believe someone with Rex Hunt's experience and supposed knowledge od football would do a 'fat lady sings' in the second quarter of a game. Especially when we played the same way last week.
David C., I hope your group gets up and overtakes my efforts so that I may go back to obscurity.
Finally, I've observed there has been a couple of new names that have suddenly appeared that do not contribute to other threads but has attacked me. It would seem the website now has some contributors within Casey's circle. I ask all PREnders to be careful about their messages.
