In the latest club survey I let them know in no uncertain terms how much club members despise Thursday night games & that they are for TV eyeballs only. Not diehard members who go to games.

Thursday night's crowd will be interesting. Only when crowd number$ drop off will the AFL actually start giving a crap.

Thursday night games shave 10,000 off the attendance, easily. Still can't believe they scheduled us on Thursday last season against Port (!) and Carlton.

At least we're facing an interstate side with plenty of support in Victoria.

I don't mind Thursday night games early in the season, but in mid-winter they're pretty unappealing to say the least.

Good stuff Oldie. I totally agree it's for couch potatoes and not the die-hards. It is school holidays but I can understand some have to work the next day and thus unable to go.

I'll be there to support the boys. I don't like Thurs nights also unless I'm watching other teams on TV. Last year we got bacck2back MCG Thurs night games. This year Thurs v Swans. AFL do what they want, we can argue it but Travis Auld and co do as they please. What annoys me is why isn't Collingwood playing Thurs in the middle of winter. In Melb, its ok in Mar/April weather is fine like RD 1. But it should be shared all over the nation with all teams.

Rich V Swans on a Fri or weekend would get an extra 10-15K. Thur nights are simply catered for a TV audience, pivves me off.

Agree 10-15K shaved off the attendance due to playing on a Thurs.

True we are playing swans who have good support here but they too won't come in any big numbers on a Thur night. Typically they can bring upwards of 7-10k.
Wouldn't think they would bring more than 5K. It is after all 13v15th.

At a guess 35-40K (well Im hoping).

Exactly. Hoping it isn't a repeat of the Port game last year where I shivered through it in the empty stands!

I like Thursday night football, so I guess I can’t complain when it’s our teams turn.

I agree . Although Gabba crowd last Thursday Night was near capacity
Had over 30,000 and lots of Richmond supporters that travelled .

The problem is our team has now played 3 Thurs night games (2X melb, 1X Bris). How many Ess, or other Vic teams for that matter. Pies none in Melb, only (1 x easter Thurs v Lions at gabba)

As well as travelling Tigers, Richmond has the largest membership outside of Lions and GC in QLD. This was from the 2020 finals series. I hear now our membership tally in QLD is over 4.5K

About 90% of 1903 Black and White Bots followers are all bandwagoners that know nuffing about footy.

It's a television sport now. AFL care not one iota about fans and family.
TV pays the bills, *smile* the fans.
The only way Thursday footy could be worse, was to play at Marvel.

I am able to go tomorrow night, but i am choosing to boycott in protest of Thursday night footy. I know it won't change anything, but you're nothing if you don't stand by your principles.

from now on I am only going on Thursday night games in R1, if I am off work the next day, or if the AFL have screws us with a Thursday night final.

Boycotting hurts the club, not the AFL. The best way to boycott is to watch another program, lower viewers the afl would take notice. The problem is people are tuning in on Thurs nights and thus it rates well.

Still debating whether to go - don't like Thursday night games, and no trains from Werribee/Williamstown lines at the moment.

I’m going to the game. Helps that I’m staying in the city overnight and have taken Friday off.

Hope you can make it Larabee. I have read some say not going cause its Thursday I mean can you imagine if we all had that attitude not to go cause its Thursday night.
If someone is working in the morning or sick or doesn't have a ride that's understandable. I'll be there with the family, the boys need the tiger roar spurring them on.

Early start to the game, have to work the next day . . . I'm going to miss this one. I really don't like Thursday night football at all. Just too much of a pain.

As far as the AFL is concerned the crowd is there as decoration for the TV coverage, but those arrogant pricks could screw the whole thing up if they're not careful. Lose the rusted on supporters and the game dies.
