If you don't love the idea of Ray Hall in the yellow and black then you're not a real Richmond lover! Ray helped Benny Gale no-end last year...and looks set to repeat the dose !
Good ol' Ray Hall
Everybody loves Ray Hall.
If you don't love the idea of Ray Hall in the yellow and black then you're not a real Richmond lover! Joining the tiges in 1999 from the hub of advanced civilisation, Woy Woy, Ray spent two seasons focussing on the big city lifestyle rather than his footy, spending time in the 2nds. In 2001 he became a senior team regular, but still often on the margins of selection.
Then right at the business end of the year he unleashed some of the most fearsome finals football you would ever want to see, terrorising the Blues forwards and then rampaging through the centre. And anyone who can do that to Carlton is a legend in my book and he's on track to be a legend in yours too.
A budding ruckman, he's unlikely to be a true number one, but has the versatility to play anywhere on the ground, though his temperament may not suit the last line of defence (where the real men play).
In fact, Ray's skills are among the best at the club, if he calms down long enough to show them. But that takes time. And the last thing we need is to rush him into adulthood now that he's found the key to selection. With the loss of old Benny, Ray should be a regular feature if the coaching staff can keep the fire burning. His physicality and venom will be a powerful tool for Danny to call on when he needs the team cranked up.
Prediction: Ray Hall to win the next five Brownlows, but be ineligible from suspension."
