2003: Our think tank had these players down as contract ending in 2003.  Does anyone know if their contracts were renewed at the end of last year or if in fact we guessed wrong and they expire this year?

Hilton, Fiora,  Rodan, Krakouer,

D Kellaway, Ottens, Stafford, Rogers, Bowden, Schulz,Fleming, Nicholls, Hilton, Pettifer, Krakouer,Weller,  Houlihan, Zantuck, Pettifer, Marsh, Fletcher, Blumfield.

(Because Luke has 1 year can we assume that Morrison, Marsh, Fletcher and Tuck who were selected in the same 2003 draft do as well?)

Tivendale, AK, Hall,Hyde, Newman are all suspected to have been out of contract at the end of 2002 so if they signed 2 year contracts then, they’d also be up for renewal in 2004.

I'm not 100% sure Rosy but I heard somewhere that players taken in the National Draft have to be given a 2 year contract minimum, whereas the PSD you could give them whatever you wanted. This would explain the 1 year deal for Weller. This would be a clause in the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the AFL (if anyone knows how to look that up).

I think if you draft a player under 17 1/2 years of age, you have to give them a minumum of 2 years.

Morrison got a 2 year deal so is contracted to the end of 2005.

He got the deal by nominating the dollars and length of contract to make any other club baulk at drafting him in the National Draft.
