There's been a couple of doozies this week to kick off:

Salty on Selwood: "He's the greatest player I've seen".
Seriously Chris? Greater than GAblett Jnr & Snr, Carey, Dusty, Voss, Hodge, Buddy to name a handful?

David Barham on the arrival of B Scott as coach: "one of the most exciting days in this football club’s history".
Really David? You targeted Clarko and missed out, then Lyon, Cameron, Bucks wouldn't go near your pissant club, and you settled on B Scott and this is right up on the excitement meter as your 15 flags are?

Just on Selwood, he was an old school footballer who did revive one of the oldest traditions of our great sport. Back in the day, there were no umpires and the two captains would just umpire games together. He has been umpiring games on his own for at least the last ten years. That’s outlandish.

I liked the one from the CEO of a chronically under-performing big club who said that his team would eradicate its debt, have 75,000 members and win three flags in the next decade.
Only got the membership numbers wrong.

“They’re a good team, but they’re beatable. They’ve won 19 in a row at the MCG, they are good, but watching the game last week I thought Collingwood were on top of them for big parts.

AFL:

“The ARC reviewed all the camera angles and it is viewed as a DEFINITIVE behind.”

Its not unanimous, I voted for Hirdy (Sheed's sooking it up) and Robbo lapping it up (HS).

The Essendon great said the decision to appoint AFL football operations boss Brad Scott was not “fully endorsed’’ by the entire board, a comment the club stressed when it announced Scott on Thursday night.

“I am extremely disappointed that the comment from my club was that it was fully endorsed, when in fact I voted for James Hird to be the coach of Essendon,’’ Sheedy said.

“The vote was 6-1.

‘’Now, I would’ve expected that to have been written, and that in the end the board actually won that vote.

“But I want to make sure all the fans know that I voted for James Hird and I’m extremely disappointed with the report that went out from the Essendon media department.

“I’m not happy.
