Does anyone on here know what is the best treatment for OP? 15yo son has some symtoms similar to OP.

probably not the right place Gus - did not know where to post it - mods please move to the right spot

Is the Junior football board the right spot to post this?

Where would you suggest Gus? It doesn't belong on the Off-Field or DyerTribe boards. The only board I can think of is the General one but this is a footy related topic. Hopefully there might be some people who've experienced OP in juniors who can offer some advice or support.

I'd suggest consulting a GP for a diagnosis to see what the problem is and fine out if anti inflammatories would help. Also, as mtench said, rest is probably the best option. A kid that age often wants to be out there but if there's pain there's a warning something isn't right. It could be damaging long term to ignore it.

Thanks Rosy - yes off to the doc this morning to get some tests done - He is hoping it is only minor, he trains harder than anyone I know - was BOG the last two weeks and his side has not been beaten this year. His long term welfare is much more important than his dream of playing AFL and kids dont always know that sometimes more is not always the best.

Went to the Doc and his Hip Flexor muscles are sore from overwork - which is great news, only a 5day break . Maybe running a 3000m cross country in 9.23min on the Tuesday and playing as a mid on the weekend was a bit much. Rosy you can bin this thread if you want. Thanks.

OP is not just the domain of the younger players. Chris Judd in recent times has been suffering from it. To me it's more of a medical question that is unlikely to be answered on a footy forum.
The suggestion should be to seek professional advice.

One of the best preventitive measures for OP is developing your core strength. Various exercises such as "the bridge", sit ups, swiss ball exercises, yoga are just a few that may help.

Nobody claimed it was the domain of younger players. It's not even the domain of footballers.

Who knows what would result from asking a question? People with similar experiences might offer advice that could be considered or ignored. Even if they don't there's nothing lost. Certainly not worth making a fuss over.

If you read my post you quoted you'll realise I did suggest that. We have many PREnders from varying professional fields. Maybe someone could read this thread and point tigertime2 in the right direction.

What is it with all the forum police lately? If you like a thread or have some advice then go for it. If not move on and let others ignore or contribute as they so desire.

This thread is doing no harm at all.

I have had OP off and on for about 6 years now.
Advice that I can give:
1. Seek professional advice
2. Learn about your lower abdominal muscles and how to train them (for power as well as injury prevention)
3. Try some yoga and pilates exercises to develop them these lower abdominal muscles
4. Remember to continue to build core strength as these issues can repeat on you
5. Monitor the exercsie regime to prevent over doing it
