Just thought I'd see if we have any others who enjoy the thrills of online poker.

I'm a bit of a devotee to the game myself and play regularly

Let us know which sites you use and what your usernames are if you want to.

I'm more than happy to help out wiht any tips if you would like them especially if you are just starting out or having some trouble.

I primarily use Full tilt (username=lager_n_porter) but I also have a 888 account.

Good luck on the virtual tables. :fing32

I'm hooked and lose plenty. Play on Party Poker as joined years ago before rise of pokerstars and full tilt.

Think there may already be a poker thread (long lost).

Evo, leysy and U2tigers as play from memory and maybe even Disco

Yes I also play.

I play full tilt mainly now, much more options to play varying amounts of buy ins.

U2Tigers is my name, LOL.

I started with party poker and played there until they stopped the Yanks playing, went to *smile* after that.

enjoy full tilt a lot. go through periods where I play more, then drop off for a while again.

I love it when players bag the site, for bad beats, but it really only seems the sites to blame, because you play a lot more hands quickly.

It's funny how so many started on party poker .... god knows I did!!!!

Smokin' A's what is pokerstars like ? I see it advertised on the tv games but have never had a go at it.

I'm like U2 and I love the variety of the games on FT but the academy is the thing that really gets me. My game has improved so much by taking some of the tutorials that I'm at the point where my bank balance trend has shifted from a negative flow to a positive one (not enough to give up my day job but maybe one day....... ;D ). I'm hooked on playing the 90 plyr sit-n-go's with knockout.

I'm with you on the bad beats thing U2, when you watch these idiots whinge about bad beats and then play in a style that leans towards being beaten like that they've only got themselves to blame! FFS everyone gets bad beats, being able to play through them is the difference between making money and losing money

Good luck fellas

PokerStars player (usually) under 'MolecularJJ' - you can't miss the Tiger avatar.

I generally play the 45 player Sit 'n' Go's. Turn a little profit from it and I love that you can now withdraw directly to your Aussie bank account. Not a big time player - just for fun really. Now I just need to turn around my recent form slump!

Yeah I used to play regularly until I found out there's a drug that people need regularly that you can sell them legally. Now I just play home games for the social aspect. :)

Fair'nuff disco.

Just had a look at pokerstars. Not bad. A totally free poker site with cash prizes aimed at the social player. I might have to have a crack at a couple of tourneys on there.

I've just discovered the steps tourneys/sng's on full tilit. I love the idea of being able to play some of the bigger money tourneys for a small fee if you have the skill (and a little luck) so far I've been able to get up to step 3 tickets but I'm a little nervous having a crack at a step 4 just at the moment. Creating a little stockplie of step 2s so we'll go from there.

Good luck.

Fair enough.

My main game is a $20 Thursday tournament home game with ~20 players and an annual weekend poker trip (paid for by a weekly rake). More of a social night than anything else.

I've thought about having at crack at real money.
How have you guys gone? win much?
Too many donks
I make a lot of final 3s on 888 $2.50 sit and go
That's about my limit... but I'd reckon you could do okay
It's not like horses, hit and miss... if you know what you're doing you can do okay
Ive never won anything over $200 tho but can hold my own
Prob more fun if you got a group of mates together with a $20 buy-in, and open it up to rebuys

Having a go at real money all depends on a couple of abilities.....
The ability to play poker and the ability to lose a bit of cash (when you're starting out anyway)
You can measure both easily ;)
When you have both in the positive column have a little crack at the smaller tourneys, sit and go's (SnG's) and ring games to get a feel and when you're ready (if you play Full tilt poker) have a little go at the steps SNG's they will allow you to multiply the value of entry tickets for relatively little money. Then you can seed how you go against some quality players.
If you have any Q's don't be afraid to drop me a line :)

Good Luck

Cheers, Nige.

I'll probably have a crack at it in a few weeks, I'll keep you posted.

I find that the Full tilt academy is a brilliant way to improve your skills and know when to hold or fold Jukes.

A couple of lessons will give you a really good grounding, and the challenges will give you a chance to win tickets to some paying tourneys.

One of the best ways to go when you're starting is to just play high cards, suited runners and pairs and let the overconfident knobs do the bluffing. bluffers usually get picked in the end.

Good Luck

I'll have a look.
I think I'm pretty knowledgeable of Texas Hold Em.'........but you can always learn more.
I take calculated risks, It pays off more often than not.

bluffing rarely works online - there are too many cowboys. You have to play tight until you reach the final table.

She's never happy. I'd try to tell her that I am working a second job but she doesn't buy it.
