A small rumour going around is that Neil Balme is in the mix as a potential coach come 2005.

Would he or Ayresy be capable of what we need at Punt Road?

They both played in multiple premierships, and have been around the traps.

I'm sorry, but if we continue to settle for second best then you may as well set Sonny and Cher's "I got you babe" on your clock radio to wake you up for the next five years - it'll be groundhog day all over again.

This is the most important decision faced by the club for some time - we need to get the best possible and three names spring to mind: Sheedy (I wish), Wallace and Eade, probably in that order.

Balme is a fantastic football manager, didn't make a great coach and that is the harsh reality.

Doesn't everyone have that? ;D

i would certainly have balme back at the club in some role but not as coach.at the very least on the board.
as for ayres hmmmmmmmmm.lets take sheeds out of the equation.
wallace-would be my last choice.given the fact that he left the doggies when it was getting tough.
eade-his style is similar to spuds.stack the backline.its not what we need.
ayres-has been consistant enough to get his side into the finals on a regular basis.

of the 3 id go for ayres.

my pecking order:
1/-Sheedy
2/-Ayres
3/-o"donnell
4/-Eade
5/-Wallace.

Sheedy, Wallace or O'Donnell in that order.
We should have been doing this last year when we would have the pick of the coaches. Please no Eade, Ayers or Balme.

Ayres,

you must be kidding......he has totally mismanged the list at at ADELAIDE and did nothing whilst at GEELONG. Plus he has a bogun haircut!

We'd be better off keeping Frawley...

Balmey !!!!

Gawd, isn't he doing a champion enough job over with the Woods ?

FFS, leave him where he is !!!

Balme has yet to prove he has the self-control or the grey matter to be a successful AFL coach (and probably never will).

As for Ayres, that bloke has a history of accepting medocrity (he was especially soft on a few spoilt brats at Geelong).

Scratch them both off the list, please.
