Only 4 from the VFL? I wonder what the usual tally is as this seems rather small.

Think he meant over-agers ie state league guys and those not from the U18 comps.

And there are state screenings. The guys who get 6 or more registers of interest or played in the national champs get an auto invite to the national draft combine (or some similar qualifying rule like that) and to get invited to state screenings they only need 3 clubs to express interest (or something similar).

Now that the home and away season is over, I think we have pick 12 in the draft ( Adelaide and Essendon out), who will we get at 12?

No. Draft order is determined after finals have been played. If we lose our first final we would have pick 10 or 11 (no Adelaide (?) or Essendon first round picks). If we got to a prelim final, pick 13 or more depending on who the other preliminary finalists are.

I'm not exactly sure of the rules here Yinnar, does that mean hypothetically if we won the premiership we'd end up with pick 18?

Essendon, and I think Adelaide, miss out on the first round so it would be pick 16.

FYI, GWS have an extra pick this year in the first round. Melbourne likely to get an extra pick as well.

Josh Kelly with the second fastest 3km time trial in the combine's history, you'd have to say he's stitched up a top 5 placing, possibly top 3. Nathan Freeman finished tenth which wouldn't do his chances any harm, someone may even roll the dice in the top ten.
