Which players in this years draft group do you think might jump into first round considerations?

For me it's Marco Paparone. He's a great size, great runner and very versatile. I haven't read too much about him around the traps but I think at the combine he might surprise a few.

If he was still around for our 2nd round pick I'd grab him.

Who do you think might move up or down the draft order?

Up

Nick Graham may get there or should at least go close.
Tim Broomhead I want with our compo but I think he may go 1st round unfortunately.
Dean Towers likely will go 20-30 if he tests well (which I believe he will)
O'Rourke for top 2.

Down

Wines I think may go 15-20.
Paparone I have going the opposite way to you. I have him in the 60's.
Atkins I like but think he will go 3rd round when he has been spoken about as late 1st-early 2nd.
Stringer will go 20+

Interested to hear why you think Wines will slide?

Not sure what it is but he reminds me of Mark Coughlan in the way he plays.

Josh Simpson. Could easily see him going top 8.

Nick Vlastuin will be a 15-25 that everyone wonders how it happened.

Simpson is a favorite of mine. He's gone largely unnoticed but I think the clubs will value him.
He's got a good attitude as well.

Simpson is the perfect run and carry footballer. If by some complete fluke we walked away with Garlett and Simpson with two of our first three picks, our side would be set for pace & tackling pressure.

Gee you don't want much :)

Dreams are free Gussy. But this two would fill a lot of our needs.

Would be our Sidebottom/Beams draft. I love the fact Derrick Hine went to bed not knowing who to pick first at 11 and end up getting both.

It can happen.

I reckon Garlett will slide big time. His attitude will worry alot of recruiters IMO.

I guess I'm not the most optimistic of people. I have these two very high at the moment but maybe Garletts rep might drop him down a peg. Simpson dropping down so far sounds like a stretch to me.

Maybe we have to trade into the draft.

How far do top 3 (on talent) players drop? Would you overlook him at 9?

I can see him dropping into the twenties. Troy Taylor was top 10 on talent yet fell to 50. Dan Connors top 10 fell to 50+.

Recruiters want a good attitude.

Taylor wasn't a top 10 pick and in my opinion the two comparisons you have provided posed vastly different challenges for a club to what Garlett will.

I'd overlook him at 9. Taylor wasn't a top 10 pick but he was on talent.

I'm not in the know, and am really just speculating.

Neither Taylor or Connors were top 10 on talent players. At best in the 20 to 25 mark. Both of them didn't dedicated themselves to their football and Garlett easily has them covered both in talent and dedication.

I get your point though but in my view, if you won't take a top 3 guy (on talent) at 9 then why even consider him at all?
If we aren't confident that we can manage him then lets pass on him all the way.

I have seen minimal of this years draftees but I liked Wines. Why do you think he will slide?

I have this feeling with him that what you see now is about what you are going to get. Not a huge amount of upside to him. He's already so big and he can win a lot of ball against other kids who aren't as physically imposing. His kicking is average and he's not all that athletic either. Look at Mitch Grigg last year that everyone was saying was a 5-10 pick and then went 40ish. Wines isn't as slow as Grigg but his kicking isn't as big a weapon either so I can see him sliding down (rightly or wrongly) for players with more upside. Josh Simpson/Jack MacRae type players.

Thanks for the feedback.

LOL, from what I saw of Paparone in the Champs, I thought he had a bit of the McGuane's about him. Big guy, athletic freak, can do the spectacular but struggles with the basics.
