And you clowns think we will be a laughing stock if we sack Frawley for ordinary performance.

"The board of directors made a unanimous decision not to renew Vicente del Bosque's contract as the first team coach of Real Madrid," club spokesman Enrique Sanchez said. "They considered that the team needs a change in its sporting planning and criteria in accordance with more modern methods."

In less than four seasons in charge he steered the club to two European Cups, two domestic league titles, a European Super Cup, a Spanish Super Cup and a World Club Cup.

And whats Frawley done in 4 years?

Obviously, irritated the hell out of you Diggles as well as Laff, FUD and Harry ........... ;D

Here here Diggler I found your post both informative and consise. The problem is because Richmond have become stereo typed re their coaches they have become gun shy and to scared to move. In 4 years he hasn't produced and needs to be sacked. The score is not on the board I'm afraid and its time the club cleaned them out and start again

Interest little bit on coaching a premiership and lets not forget that's what its all about.

Pagan - started 1993, premiership in 1996.
Sheedy - started 1982, premiership in 1984.
Malthouse - started (WC) 1990, premiership in 1992.
Parkin - started (Carlton) 1992?, premiership in 1995.
Blight - started (Adelaide) 1997, premiership 1997.
Matthews - started(Brisbane) 1999, premiership 2001.

All these coaches won premiership within 4 years of starting at a club. Food for thought...

Here here Diggler, Laff and TFurious. You guys are roses amongst thorns.

In defence of Frawely he did lead us to a night final. ;D

Again- agree in principle, but-
Last time we went looking for a coach no one was interested. In Europe there are hundreds of top flight clubs producing thousands of players and hundreds of coaches. This allows for clubs to have a huge range of options when hiring staff.
In Australia we have 16 teams, which produce quite a few coaches, but few of them of a quality high enough to coach at the top level (yep, including Frawley). If there are only half a dozen really good coaches available in any given year (which there will be, and we can all name them), and none of them want to be treated the way Richmond (and Harry, Fud and Diggles) does, we end up with another Frawley- maybe better, but maybe worse.
Conclusion: Make sure you are trading in the Kingswood for at the very least a Commodore (or preferably a porsche) and not a Datsun 120Y. ;D

C'mon Diggler! Talk about comparing Apples with Oranges. Over the past few years Real Madrid has had nothing short of a starstudded lineup to select from with the likes of Figo, Zidane, McManaman, Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos and soon Beckham.
That's Like Richmond having Lloyd, Crawford, Voss, Akermanis and Buckley to pick from with the remaining players being selected from the best that we have already. Also note that having 5 outright stars in a run on side of 11 means it's almost half the onfield team. So a fair comparison would be for Richmond to have 9 outright stars to pick from. A team with that much class could almost coach itself!

A good car comparison in this situation would be

Real Madrid - A Ferrari owner that wants the latest aerodynamic alloys to get 0.5 of a km/h more out of his finely tuned, showroom perfect speed machine.

Richmond - VB Commodore that needs new tyres, new shocks, New discs and New pads just so it can pass rego. But the seat covers are brand new and really comfy! ;D

My point Tiga was Real Madrid is a club that doesnt get all emotional and run their club like a business. They dont care what people think of them. Most of the ferals are only concerned that we will look like a laughing stock if we sack Frawley. This is small minded thinking by people who just dont have a clue. No one really cares.
If Frawley was in the corporate world, he would of been turfed long ago by the shareholders. At Richmond they wallow in mediocrity and accept second rate as their birthrite.

I think Frawley thought he was emulating del Bosque when he brought a bloke with a European name to the club - unfortunately Sziller just didn't quite have the capabilities as a Rondaldo or a Figo, etc. Still, you can't blame the dud for trying!

I'm surprised he hasn't tried to ressurect the careers of Romero and Liberatore with that mentality. Maybe we'll give up our 1st and 2nd picks for them in next years draft!!! ;D

Diggler, okay so you think the club should be more business oriented, well what's your formula for success then?? Just sack frawley and all our problems will be solved?? Look at the corporate world... It's far from perfect. HIH, Pyramid, Enron, One-tel, Multi-million dollar payouts for corporate executives, Need I go on?
Real Madrid can afford to play the business game because they have the funds to do so. Plus a few million fans worldwide who buy their memberships, shirts, scarves, hats TV Rights etc....

I can think of plenty of duds at the helms of many companies but you know what makes them look good??
reducing the bottom line. Well the bottom line in football are the players. Stop looking at Frawley and start looking at the players. At the end of the day they're the ones with the ultimate task of winning matches.

Gather up all the duds you can think of, put them in one team, Put Sheedy as their coach. Do you think that team would ever win a premiership?? I don't think so.

Just keep an eye on Dennis Pagan...do you think he will get that rabble at Carlton another Premiership within the next couple of years?? I somehow doubt it.

Oh and ILN we already have our share of European names at Tigerland....Spargo, Fiora, Dragicevic, *smile*, Zantuck Holland ;D, Hilton (Hotel Paris) ;D, Need I go on???

At the end of the day who picks the side? Who decides who gets delisted, traded and droped? Who's job is it to set a gameplan, motivate the players and ensure the players follow the plan set?

The coach.

If the players can't follow a gameplan then its up to the coach to either motivate them to follow the rules or get rid of them.

If Frawley wants to look for reasons why the players always kick it to richo, or don't follow the team rules, or can't win a centre clearance to save themselves then he should go and take a long hard look in the mirror. He picked all the players currently on the list, oversaw their contracts, development and has set the gameplan. If he can't get it together now he never will.

Gather up all the duds you can think of, put them in one team, Put Sheedy as their coach. Do you think that team would ever win a premiership?? I don't think so.

Could you ever see Sheedy tolerating players like King and Biddiscombe on his list for 4 years?. Good coaches know you live or die by who you put on the park. Look at how quickly Essendon got rid of Caracella, Blumfield and Heffernen. They'll probably finish lower than us this year but they'll also win a premiership before we do.

Just keep an eye on Dennis Pagan...do you think he will get that rabble at Carlton another Premiership within the next couple of years?? I somehow doubt it.

Currently I'd say Carlton will win 3 premierships before Richmond win one. Most would agree that they have the worst list in the league yet they were more than capable of beating Richmond last round. And the reason they beat us is because they were coached better.

I couldnt have said it better myself furious. Pagan and Sheedy wouldnt put up with the duds masquerading as footballers at tigerland. Frawley does. The buck stops with the coach, he has failed, time to look at someone else.
Time for another nursery rhyme I think.

Here Here Diggler I found your posts both informative and Concise.......the problem is the tiger board has become gun shy because of the stereo type they know deep down its time to go he has had long enough...I say new coach who can come in and cut a swathe through that playing list....

small minded poeple how ironic.the pot calling the kettle black bigtime.

Furious - your wisdom is not being appreciated by some. Post frawely there will be a breath of fresh air around the club and the messiah sheedy will wake up the sleeping tiger.

Danny still has one more year on his contract so we have him for 2004 whether we like it or not, so why not engross yourself in things that we have some hope of influencing in some small way - recruiting.

In fact, Harry, Diggler et al should all go and watch a few TAC Cup games and do a player report for Beck to use come national draft day.

If Spud doesn't do anything by the end of next year he will be gone, and even he will accept that. 5 years and no real success will seal Danny's fate.

Then comes the next prob - who will coach us then?
Wallace will be taken, Sheedy will be stitched up by the bummers on some high paying quasi ammbassador role leaving us with a choice of untried assistants.
