Mark Coughlan has been sighted on video and will be up at the tribunal this week for the bump on Williams on Friday night. :'(

Re:Mark Colughlan on Report

I had a thread typed out about Cogs's bump over the weekend, but decided not to post it in case I mozzed him.
The worrying thing is that the ball so far away.
It would have been a great bump within 5 metres or whatever it is, but mightn't be looked upon kindly when it was out of play.
What has he been charged with?
"Charging" is a grey area, a bit hit and miss what the tribunal decides to do.
"Unduly rough play" is open to interpretation too.
I hope the club can come up with a good case and not just plead guilty.
Good luck Cogs.

Tribunal hearing tonight.

Charging? That was a clean hip and shoulder.

The factor which will convict is "would Williams have expected the contact"

IMO, yes. He was in pursuit of a Richmond player who had the ball. From my view, he was close but I couldn't see how close to the Richmond player.

It was a big hit, so that may have influenced the umpire in reffering it to the tribunal.

It was a great hip and shoulder, not high or anything. The worry for me is at what stage do the powers to be think a fair hip and shoulder becomes a charge.
If it's in relation to distance from the ball this is a worry.
If they are going by the kind of contact, he'd be safe.
Good to finally see a bit of agression in one of our players at last, and I certainly hope it is deemed legal.

if coughs wanted to hurt him bad he could have but didnt.that surely should come into it.

I'm still bleeding that Chaffey had to miss last weeks game while Tarrant got to play, both having being reported for near identical incidents!

It was simply a good hip and shoulder, there was nothing wrong with it at all.

Williams turned and saw him coming and braced himself too, just didnt realise how big Cougs really is.

It is a disgrace it has gone to the tribunal, and if he is rubbed out, it would be further proof that the AFL simply does not like Richmond

If Cogs gets rubbed out, the AFL are then saying the hip and shoulder is no longer part of the game. What a disgrace! The umpire should be demoted for showing he has no idea what footy is about and wasting the tribunal's time and money.

After seeing the footage im confident that he'll plead not guilty and get off..........what a joke

Is it just me, or does cogs remind others of a young Tony Free.

I remember the early 90's when Free and Barry young would get the sh!ts and run around belting blokes, when the Tigers were on the end of another thumping.

Go cogs - the new tough man at Tigerland.

m_p, you might give Mark Coughlan a bit more credit than just going around belting blokes for the heck of it.

He is the sort of player we've been screaming out for, in terms of hardness and even though he's still got a way to go, there's no doubt he's got real ability, as well as toughness.

I actually agree with mongrel_punt. I didn't read that to mean that Cogs is a thug just belting players for the heck of it.
Look at Scotty Turner in the 95 Essendon final.
I like a player who gets angry and makes the opposition think about their posessions, as long as it's within the rules.
Go Cogs, pity a few more weren't that hard at it.

I didn't necessarily think that's what he meant either Rosy. Just checking to make sure. ;)
