Its time we stood up and made ourselves heard.
All tiger members and supporters should be at this weeks final game to pay tribute to the greatest of them all "Captain Blood".
Apart from Ted Whitten and Ron Barassi there are no truer football legends, we should be honoured that he was a Richmond man for he made our club what it is today.

Also, we need to send a very loud and clear message to
our coach, players and administrators and the rest of the football world.
We are not the bulldogs or melbourne or st.kilda so don't anyone dare put us in their category.
We do not accept failure, and what has happened in the last 20 years is unRichmondlike and won't be tolerated. It is why we are known as the most passionate and loudest of all supporters and it will always be this way.
We need to stand up like the swans supporters did last year and tell the club anyone who does'nt give their all should pack their bags.
If they want to give people 2nd chances fine but stop right there and don't continue to give them 3rd , 4th & 5th chances Mr Frawley (Clinton King, Adam Houlihan, Kane Pettifer, Royce Vardy, Billy Nicholls, Joel Bowden, Matt Rogers, Craig Biddiscombe, Tim Fleming).
If we don't see a change in spirit, desire, passion and committment by the coaching staff and players early next year then they can *smile* right off and we'll get someone who has what we need, who is "Richmond" first and foremost.
To the Richmond Football Club get your f*!@#*g act together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tigerjoe,

I here what you say and I share in your frustration.

However I think you are being unfair to a couple of players.

A player like Tim Fleming may lack something when it comes to the skills department but he certainly lacks nothing when it comes to spirit, desire, passion and commitment. He for one is giving his all for the club and as a supporter you cannot ask for any more than that from him.

Similarly Matthew Rogers is getting near the end of his career but he too has given his all for the yellow and black over a number of years.

These two players do not take a backward step and I think you are being a bit harsh questioning their spirit and commitment for the guernsey.

I don't disagree here YT, but I think this is a fault in our history, we have tended to love the battlers who have a dip, but are sadly lacking in skill. I agree he has heart and puts in, but we have to change our thinking and pursue those that are skilled and can delive on a consistent basis.

Agree wholeheatedly on Rogers although he does fall into the above category, but with more skill. If he is still going to be on the list next year, I think he could still add something as a small forward who is capable of kicking 30-40 goals rotating of the bench.

If he could do that then he would have earn't his last year. Has been another who has been a good servant of the club.

If he can't fulfill this sort of role then I think he will be spending a lot of time at Coburg. At least only half his salary will count for the salary cap next year.

GT,

I hear what you are saying.

I am not even necessarily suggesting that these two players (Rogers and Fleming) should be on the list next year. What I am saying is that I think it is unfair for some of us on this site as supporters to question their commitment and passion for the club.

I agree entirely that commitment and courage need to be balanced with appropriate skill. Balancing these attributes has been tough over the past 20 or so years as we have tended to recruit players who have plenty of courage but lack skills or players that are very skilful but who lack toughness.

The Richmond Football club definately need a change of direction.

We certainly need to rebuilt our roster and there's no doubt every department within the club, need improvement.

However, remember one thing Tigerjoe, success will not come over night.

Its just like when you plant a seed, it takes time for the seed to grow and bear fruits.

I guess we are at the planting stage at present.

Greg Miller is doing a great job and I am sure you're going to see a clean out of some dead wood at the club. One thing that will work against Greg Miller, is the previous peoples contract negotiations. It's easier than said to get rid of people, however, to sack them, will cost us financially.

I totally agree that there's players and administors whom have performed well below par.

I encourage everyone to continue buying their memberships and dont expect too much success all at once. The club needs us members to continue to survive.

I am as frustrated as yourself. I dont enjoy going to the footy every week to see poor performances week in and week out.

There is nothing more I'd like to see than Rogers retire or get the arse, however, some idiot decided to sign him up until the end of next year. If Richmond were to sack Rogers, we'll still have to pay him out his entire contract and this would also get included in our salary cap. We are in a lose - lose position there.

I have been going to watch Richmond player every week since 1978, the last 20 years has not been the best. I keep hoping this year is the year.

I truely believe from my conversations with Greg Miller, that he will get the job done. Some things are going to take time.

Let's hope next year is a better one for the club and our supporters.

GO TIGERS !!!

No arguement from me here YT. Good post.

Tigerfans - expect the next 2 or 3 years to be WORSE than the last 2 years...................The current coaching and recruiting staff have put us even more behind the 8 ball than we were 4 years ago

Expect in 2-3 years time tiger fans to be blaming the past administration (current one now) for our shocking performances..................similar to how some people are blaming Brayshaw and the past administration for our current woes.

We are not cut throat enough, we are conservative and accept mediocrity...........if this wasn't the case then frawely and his team of jokers would be long gone by now.

Hawthorn were within a whisker of axing Schwab when they were struggling earlier in the year..............if the hawks lost 13 out of 14 Schwab would be lining up at centrelink by now............and schwab has had a far better win loss ratio than frawely.

Only conclusion to this is that the RFC accept mediocrity and are comfortable with it, the football public relate mediocrity with our club, and the majority of our supporters accept mediocrity which is illustrated by their unconditional support of players like Richo, Duncan, Rogers, Holland, Fleming etc.

We get what we deserve.

Couldn't agree more Harry. Richmond is a club mired in mediocrity and has been for more than 20 years. For this entire period we've had *smile* coaches, *smile* footballers, *smile* football administrators and sometimes *smile* business administrators. RFC is a joke and hence is the laughing stock of the football world.

The current situation at the club is a perfect reflection of how mediocre we really are. A playing list that is totally flawed from top to bottom. Every player on our list has a major flaw in his game that will prevent him from being a top line footballer. The only one I'm prepared to give ground on is Coughlan. I love him. He's tough, he's hard, he gets his own ball and he has a footy brain. His disposal is OK but needs work but hopefully this will improve as he develops further (no chance of this happening until Mr. Potatohead is gone).

We (club and supporters) continue to laud players who are quite simply over rated. Ottens could be anything but the simple fact is he's not aggressive enough and does not stamp his presence on a game. He's too bloody timid. Gaspar is a good defender but a limited footballer in that he's purely a backman and he's kicking is iffy. Why do we pay him $500K per year?? Richo is a potential matchwinner but his kicking is abysmal and he is a dumb footballer. Ben Holland is a complete lemon who has completely raped the club for a big contract and given us NOTHING in return. Maybe if we played the Bulldogs every week he might start earning his keep. Bowden is a complete coward who just refuses to do the "one percenters" and kills us with his turnovers. Rogers had a good season as small forward in 2000 (37 goals) and hasn't played a decent game since. He's at least 2 years past his use by date and is completely ineffectual in every game he plays. Duncan, courageous and determined as he is, is the worst kick I've ever seen at VFL/AFL level and is IMO the prime example of why the RFC is so mediocre. I'm not even gonna get started on Nicholls, Fleming, Pettifer, Hilton, Fiora, King, Biddiscombe etc etc etc.

Whilst we continue to recruit and develop these type of players we will always be crap. Simple as that.

And the piece de resistance, Mr. Potatohead, Danny Frawley. After we got rid of Gieschen, I thought I would never in my lifetime see a worse coach. Well done RFC, it's only taken you 4 years to prove me wrong. This man is a joke as a coach. The crap playing list we have now is all his doing. He is the senior coach and must take responsibility for the list. Every player on the list has either come to the club, or been through a contract negotiation, during his tenure. He has had the chance to move all of these hacks on. He continues to support these extremely ordinary footballers and has paid the price. But the most damning indictment on him is the fact that after all the failure and mediocrity, he refuses to learn the lesson!! What does the club possibly have to gain by playing Rogers, Houlihan etc when the season is over and leaving young players with promise like Schulz and McGrath out of the side???

And the powers that be at the club back him with "blind faith". I heard Splud at Leon Cameron's conference yesterday talking about honesty. How ironic. If you were honest Splud, you'd do the honourable thing and walk away and let the club commence the rebuilding it so desperately needs. It just can not commence until you are gone.

I am sorry for venting my spleen on a day when we pay tribute to the greatest tiger of all, Captain Blood but I just can't take the crap any more. Unfortunately the great man was stricken with dementia for the last few years but I can't help thinking if he was alive and of well mind, he would have the same views and be absolutely distraught with the rabble that his beloved RFC has turned into.

R.I.P. Captain. And mate, some divine intervention wouldn't go astray.

I agree that a lot of changes need to be made but do we throw the baby out with the bath water?
We must first know which is which, have a plan and implement it.
If we feel it will take 4 years to get where Colliingwood, Port etc are now the we must be ruthless with 27 years plus players who may still have some currency and trade them for picks not players.
Assuming MLB loses we don't get a pick until 8 in the draft so we must try vigourously to get early choices.
I believe there is hope but not with the current coaching staff. Another year with the defensive defeatist attitude would be catastrophic.
The next coaching appointment is the most critical in the club's history and another bad appointment would be a disaster.
Obviously Beck must go hopefully before the draft.

Flemming is a disgrace to league football and Rogers played 4 years more than he deserved....they both need to be sacked.

YES Harry,

you are wise and true.......

people have a go at us "negative posters" its only because we sick of having the crap dished out to us every year, same excuses, and its the same crap just a different date!

we are sick of being mediocre...its about time the club if they really wanted to become successful no longer tolerated mediocrity we are forever making excuses on players and events, if players and coaches cant perform on a more consistant basis then no matter what our track record is they HAVE to go.

How many chances has dudley given biddescum and king for example this year? this has happened every year since he has been coach.....

its time we got fair dinkum.
