We were at Disneyland start of May this year and stayed at Sheraton Park Hote like Thommo did
15 min walk to Disney, we didnt use the shuttle but as Thommo says it is their.
Has a pool there to relax, we went back to the pool each afternoon between Disney visits, close to restaurants and 15 min walk to Grove shopping centre (recommend Cheesecake factory over there).
How many travelling Big Wow
Some other thoughts that I have sold a lot of
Anabella Hotel is 10 minute and 4 star
Howard Johnson is about 5-10 minute away. It is 3 star but has very good pool area for children if travelling with children
others across road are Carousel and Fairfield Inn by Marriott which are 3 star but very conveniant. What is suitable may depend on how many travelling.
3 day Hopper Pass is good it does incluude the fast pass for many of its rides, have a look at though 4 and 5 day pass as the more days you have the cheaper per day it gets.
We used a 5 day pass in May and just being 2 adults we went 3 full days (except for 2-3 hours rest in afternoon) and 2 half days there. It allowed us to do Disney at a comfortable pace.
If into Disney characters, Disney dining is good. We did the Goofy character breakfast. The menu was buffett from a hot breakfast, cereals, fruits, plenty of sweet things, pizzas including peanut butter and jelly pizza, mickey mouse shaped pancakes and waffles.
Other things you can do from Anaheim:
We went to Legoland approx 1 hour away, displays were good very suitable for young boys, rides and shows were suited for young children.
Sea World San Diego/ San Diego zoo probably 90 min away
Universal Studios in Hollywood is approx 90 min away as well.
Would recommend Anaheim over LA but can split yiour stay between the two.
All travel agency would be able to help you with a package at the same price almost, all of them sell travel insurance, tours and hotels and flights as plenty of wholesalers sell these packages. I have never worked in retail but have dealt with all agencies, my thoughts are different to Jukes and that is avoid Flight Centres if you can. They employ sales people not consultants and from my dealings with them is the majorty of staff they grab the sale but their knowledge and follow up work is poor, especially if there is problem. That is the way they are trained and they have a high turnover rate of staff. Harvey World, Jetset, Travelworld generally are pretty good but just go with initially what is most conveniant located to (except FC, escape travel, student flights) unless they give you poor customer service. Also not a fan of booking it on the net.
All of them do flights with Qantas, Virgin, Hawaiian and United. I have only flown Qantas and they fly the A380 from Melbourne and are daily. My family have flown Virgin and were very happy with them.
Enjoy though Big Wow its great over there and so much to do.
