Is it OK to quote from Dimmas article Rosy? If so here is in part what he said in regard to Brad Miller. Maybe his knockers will now give him a bit of respect.

Hardwick said Miller had been an "outstanding recruit" this year, but admitted the club was yet to decide if he would either be offered a second rookie contract or a position on the senior list for 2012.

"He brought instant leadership, he's an outstanding leader. His character is second to none," he said.

"The pleasing thing for us is he's delivering on-field. Our side is better for having Brad in the side.

I said on the game day thread that our young KPF good do a lot worse than watch this guy , especially someone like Griffiths who has so much more ability than he does. When the game was in the balance he always presented , ran hard and gave an option . He runs to the right places , always gives a contest . He is not a great player but he is an experienced player and he knows what is required on the field . i just hope the young guys are listening to him .

His workrate was very high yesterday .

He played well...but 1 game doesn't make him an automatic keeper for next year.

He's still a shortcut to me....sign him on as coach or whatever off field, that's fine. He seems like a top bloke but I don't think we need him in 2012.

I can hear a ticking sound, it the bomb that will go off on the Internet when miller gets another year

Another year on the rookie list wouldn't hurt given the widely reported "weak" draft this year. Cut him loose next year when we will get value in his rookie position. He will therefore be "insurance" again.

Seems to me the rookie spots should be preserved for developing ruckmen, speculative kids, quality VFL players, talented irishmen/ basketballers or players with unusual sititations who have talent (eg Troy Taylor type). Not 30 year old journeymen who are there for 'ínsurance'.

Dimma when asked the question in the presser about Miller's future with the club beyond this season..
'That's Craig's job'.

I didn't think much of the idea to recruit Miller.

It is hard to argue with his output though. How many of our 7 wins have involved Miller playing, I wonder? Griffiths was given 4 games at his expense and our forward line struggled to be competitive during this period, Miller comes back and the goals are flowing again.

We have a team where the bulk of the leadership has to come from 20, 21 and 22 year-olds. Having a couple of old stagers like Miller and Tuck around is a godsend at this stage.

I would keep Miller on the rookie list for one more year and think seriously about giving Tuck another season. We have plenty of kids adn will no doubt add 5 or 6 more next year, regarless of whether we keep those two or not.

We will see him playing senior games in a Richmond jumper again next year. I have no doubt about it.

Nice handball from Dimma.

On Miller, he runs to all the right spots, plays his role in the patterns within the forward structure to a tee.

If he wasnt so bloody slow, have a turning circle less than the QE2, could actually kick more than 40m & was a one grab mark he'd be a player.

Only little things leysy knows. ;D

he played a vital role in our win yesterday as did shane tuck....we need to have a couple of 'older more experienced" players like in the side next year as the younger guys ( and we have mainly very very young guys) develope and are in a position to take over.....therefore i really hope miller and tuck play on next year......

I can see how those deficiencies would worry a purist such as yourself.

What he can do is fill the breach manfully while we draft and develop more players like Griffiths and Astbury who will inch him out of the side. He won't last beyond next season.

Yep otherwise we end up like Melbourne this year. They have seriously gone backwards. They were horrendous and the lack of a crowd for their own home game was shocking to go with the 15,000 they had last week. Our season is over and we out-numbered them at their game. On another note, after finishing 15th last year we have 47,000 members. Last time the Pies were 15th the next year 38,000. A couple more wins to end this year and a good start next year and watch us flock in.
