What qualities are needed and who on our list fits the mould?
They need these qualities - I reckon develop Towner

Determined
Fearless
Seeks out the contest - competitive
In your Face Annoying
Can play tallish if needed
Can push forward and kick a goal
Team oriented
Wants to survive
Needs a very good tank

Just build his tank and endurance.
The new 6,6,6 won't help him though.
We need a good one, worth a try

Cripps would be spewing in rd. 1 if Towner walked up and placed his head on his chest and pushed him

Cripps would destroy him.
Love towner but going toe to toe with blue chip talent in the midfield isn't his game.

Yep we need a tagger. Townsend lacks pace and a tank. Don't think we have one on our list.

In retrospect i think i agree with you - not sure he could ever go with a sloane or sidebottom. Wishful thinking perhaps..
But porky Lingy could do it..!! I think positioning and mind games play a big role

Graham is the closest to a tagger we have.

If spuds like greenwood, jacobs etc can play this tight tagging role cant see why we cant find or develop one.

mcintosh at times should be the tagger

I think he ticks most boxes - except maybe real footy in close smarts? But agree he should be tried for sure

Yeah agree but they seem to just like letting him loose on everyone in the vicinity and not confining him to one role like they did with Sloane in GF.

We have taggers on our list, but are they mentally switched long enough to do the job.
Higgins could tag, Macintosh, Markov, Graham, Ellis,
The one I would try out is Catagna, has the speed, tackles like a lion and has the tank.
Players like Sidebottom, Sloane, Neal or Zorko.
But for players like Cripps, Fyfe, Wines or Kennedy I would try McIntosh.

Zips is on to it. Shame we didn't bother to tag Sidebottom. Saturday proved it could be done.

Brilliant idea to use George as a tagger. Considering that he cant rotate through the midfield it would be a good 2nd role for him to play.

As much as I love him in the forward line, when he goes missing he really goes missing.
