I would say there is no doubt it is. There is general hatred there, like the stuff you hear about in bygone era's.

Both clubs hate each other on and off the field as we saw when Ian Robson crossed over this year.

I look forward to their clashes and think it has become the best and biggest rivalry in football today.

Thoughts?

Yeah, I reckon it easily surpasses the traditional rivalries now. That was a magnificent game to watch yesterday.

Waiting for the high and might jorno's to rip into both clubs for that sort of behaviour, taking the game back to the bad old days.

Football rivally is dead thanks to the melee rule and trial by video

It really was. There was a real tension, the type that only comes when high risk is involved. Reminded me of ye olden days.

Possibly. Geelong v Hawthorn is developing, then there's ANZAC Day (Essendon v Collingwood), and some less recognised rivalries that are also developing.

No doubt, there's real spite between the clubs. The Sydney/West Coast battles of attrition were great, but give me a rivalry in which the passion extends beyond football any day.

Yeah but neither have the sustained hatred that this one has.

Anzac day is a manufactured rivalry thing.

The concept of the big 4 being rivals is ludicrous also, maybe in the 60's and 70's but that has been long gone.

I want hatred and rivalry, but it means we need to be successful first.

The crossing of the CEO is what hurts the most from a Hawthorn point of view.

The fact that when they meet in the corridors of Waverly Park and Clarkson gave him the mother of all sprays makes it even better. I assume there wan't going away drinks.

Footy needs more of this. Yesterday just continues the hate. The thing is, you can only have a rivarly if there are two side going at it. These two go at it.

My Dear Tooheys sadly i reckon we are in our own rivalry with the Frockers for the most inept rabble in the comp.

The witches hats at Punt Rd have been talking themselves up a bit recently my sources tell me. Look for some real fireworks over the summer at training.

Crows and Port would have to be close as much as I hate them both.
