I have newply acquired an iPhone4 and am having battery drainage issues. Yes, I have read the internet and I know all the common suggestions - turn off bluetooth, location services, mail pushing, 3G, yada yada ... done the lot (except wifi). The intriguing is this:

We can fully charge the thing one evening to 100%.
The next morning it is 49%
Wife then takes it to work, and does nothing with it. Settings and usage-wise, the only difference between the home and her work environments is which wifi net it is connecting to. At the end of her working day it was 47%.

I am wondering why this difference. One theory I am grasping at is that IF our home wifi net is less stable and it keeps dropping out so the phone has to constantly re-connect, and does not have this problem at my wife's work.

Anyone have any experiences on this sort of thing?

One suggestion mainly is to make sure you turn your iPhone off at night. It doesn't like long periods of time without use and can really damage the battery.

My Mum and I both have one, only mine is the older 2g, and hers is the 3GS (Not the same as your's I know, but the same rules apply.) I turn mine off every night, and she doesn't (Even though I constantly remind her) and mine has no issue with battery life and can last a few days without a charge, and hers now gets drained very quickly without using it.

Another is to turn your brightness down if it is at the high 80-100% mark. I have mine at about 50% and you may think its too dim, but you will get used to it very quickly. There are no advantages really in having it that high after a day or so you won't notice its at 50%.

If I think of any other ways to help your battery life i'll make sure I tell you! :)

Wish I could help, but can't for the life of me remember what I was told. Some telstra dude rang me when I got mine and ran me through some tutorial and changed a couple of settings to extend battery life. I get 5 - 6 days between charges.

Another guy here at work has one and he can't go 24 hours without a recharge. ???
