I often help people privately in regard to the functions on PRE so I'll try and explain the most common requests here. If it's not clear please ask questions. Also happy to help with any other functions people might be having difficulty with.

Quotes

USING THE QUOTINATOR

For a single quote click "Quote" at the top of the post box. It's best to remove the content so only the part you want to refer to is left. For example there's not much point in quoting an entire article if there's only one small section of it you wish to comment on. Same with quoting entire large posts just to say well said.

To do multiple quotes from a thread, or different threads, you need to do a bit of cut and pasting. Click quote on the bit you want and cut/copy it. Go to the next thing you want and press quote. Paste the first quote above the one you have open then copy and paste both of them...etc etc.

You can also just use the
quote.gif
button and post the bits of the posts you want there. The difference is it doesn't attribute the quote to it's author then.

For example the first way.

Did anyone from here go? Like Streaker I'd love to know how much was raised and how it all went.

The second way

Did anyone from here go? Like Streaker I'd love to know how much was raised and how it all went.

Another way is to have 2 windows open and copy and paste from one into the the thread you want to post them from.
It all sounds hard work but it’s not once you get the hang of it.

Links

POSTING LINKS

(I'll put gaps in the examples I post so you can see what I've done. For the links to work there shouldn't be any gaps)

To post a link click on the
url.gif
"Insert Hyperlink" button and put the URL address of what you want to link to in between the brackets.

[url ] Put address here [ /url]

That would show up as

http://puntroadend.com/yabbse/index.php

You can also get it to show what you're linkign to rather than show the actual address

To do so click on the Insert Hyperlink button.

In the first bracket type an = sign after where it says URL [ url= ] [ /url ]

The URL address goes after the = and the highlight word goes in between the brackets.

[ url=http://puntroadend.com/yabbse/index.php ] PRE [ /url ]

Without the gaps it would show up as

PRE

POSTING IMAGES

To post an image it needs to have an URL address. If you want to publish photos you need to save them to an image hosting service first. I use photobucket.com because it's quick, easy and reliable. There are many similar sites though.

Click on the
img.gif
"Insert Image" button and put the url address between the
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q164/rosy_pre/KelandJuddy_zpsba188e2d.jpg [ /img] tags like this.

Remove the gaps from the example and the image will show.

[img width=500 height=345]http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q164/rosy_pre/KelandJuddy_zpsba188e2d.jpg

You can also post images as attachments but they need to be pretty small.

Feel free to use the "Test" board to give any of the above a practice run. :)

Any issue with linking to you tube addresses at the moment?

I can't seem to get it to work. Just get invalid you tube link message (see below).

Cheers

Baloo

Any trick to it? I click the you tube button and insert the url address in between. Do I need to edit any part of the address?

Thanks

No trick. I use the video identifier, not the url. i.e. if you look at the post above your first one, I just used PGQ4ovnMKRU

so...

Code:
[youtube]PGQ4ovnMKRU[/youtube]

Is what I typed

Let's see

[youtube=560,315]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unca1QR3nLs[/youtube]

Edit...Doesn't appear to be a problem. Maybe the link you tried to post actually was invalid. Let me know the address and I'll try it.

Double edit..Baloo got in before me.

Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere. Is it possible to unsubscribe from a thread, even if its one that I have contributed to ?

Don't open it - mark it as read.
