The SuperFooty Phantom Draft
by: Jay Clark and Sam Landsberger From: Herald Sun November 19, 2011 12:00am

YOUR CLUB'S PICKS

15 Richmond
Taylor Adams
HEIGHT: 181cm
CLUB: Geelong Falcons
Can't have enough blue-chip inside midfielders. Outstanding leader. Could play Round 1.

26 Richmond
Brad McKenzie
HEIGHT: 188cm
CLUB: Sturt, SA
Powerful forward flanker meets Tigers' kicking demands. Left foot is a weapon. Strong mark.

Would be a dream result. McKenzie at 26 would be a steal.

Add McCarthy at 55 and finally we have some good depth in the midfield.

Cotchin, Martin, Deledio, Foley, Conca, Adams, McCarthy & McKenzie.

Just a real amateur observer of the junior highlight reels - but even judging from those this would be an oustanding result.

Didnt realise McCarthy nominated for pre-season draft when I wrote that.

But do we have enough room on our list to take 3 picks in the national draft plus 1 PSD pick?

Only if Gourdis retires or Newman goes on the Vets list

I assume it would be the latter happening. You would have thought Gourdis would have pulled the pin by now.

Another possibility is seeing whether Moores body stands up from now until the final list lodgment.

Yeah, that too. At least there may be some options.

This would be an enormous result. 2 very good midfielders one more inside and one more outside but both seem to be flexible in the positions they can play. Would think we would have to go tall at 55.

Wonder if we'd have a go at Manson if he was still there at 55...?

Not sure. I feel like it will be a waste. However, IMO the indigenous players do a lot better in Melbourne if they can crack the firsts team and not play at Coburg. Ours seem to always rot at Coburg and get homesick. On the flipside you can't just play him for this reason if he hasn't worked hard. Team chemistry seems at an all-time high these days. Also think the Dees will take him.

Both Adams and McKenzie are quite slow, wouldn't be suprised if it was one or the other but not both. We aren't superquick around the ball as it is.

They are my top (realistic) choices Skipper

(I am assuming Sumner is no chance to make it to 15)

I still think the club should go for Markworth at 15. He is a lead up forward with a good set of hands. We dont really have a forward at the club who plays like that.

Rumoured to go at 14 now.

Yer don't think anyone would take him top 14 unless it was their ELEVENTH pick.

I'd sure take him if he was available at our 11th. :hihi

Wouldn't mind Docherty - he looks very promising. Devon Smith would be a ripper replacement for Nathan Foley long term

Decision making is much more important than pace.
