I've opened a pdf file with Adobe Reader but I can't work out how to edit it. I want to be able to type in my comments throughout it then return to the sender.

Can anyone advise me how to do that please? I'm wondering if maybe the file has been sent in an uneditable format.

its not a feature of the basic adobe reader so you'll have to buy/acquire the adobe acrobot pro suite

Thanks Lidsn. Not keen on buying anything for one file if I can avoid it.  I've installed a couple of free programs.  One is a trial version that will only allow editing of 3 pages and this document has 10.  The other I can't get the add text boxes to fit in the spaces.

It would be good  if anyone can reccommend a free program.  I'll keep searching and see what i can find.

a torrent is your friend for the full pro version. allows you to convert any office file to pdf plus other stuff

Select the text on the page and copy (ctrl C) then paste (ctrl V) into Word....... edit as you please.

Eg. Open the pdf file, click on the page, goto Edit then Select All, press ctrl c, open Word, click on the page and press ctrl v.

or, just highlight the sentences or paragraphs each at a time and copy/paste into word. You can click with your mouse and press the shift key at the same time and drag over the text you want to highlight.

Thanks Red Sea.  I've already tried that.  Select all doesn't highlight anything.  If highlight a section myself to save it shows as image rather than text.  I think the original file must be a non-editable format.

Thanks for the suggestions. I put it in the too hard basket and typed it out instead.

Been there done that too Rosy. Sometimes looking for a quick way is often much slower.

On a related note the security side of Adobe Acrobat pdf files is what it is all about actually. If you wanted, you could print the document and manually write your "comments" and then scan the pages on your printer (assuming it has the capablity) and resend the file. There is even a scan feature that tries it's best to put the document into Word type format from the get go but I forget what that's called.

Oh yeah, does anyone use a fax these days ??? I know our Naked ADSL phone/internet set up means we can no longer use the good old facsimile machine.

I think LidsnCotch's pointer is probably on the money, but even I'm a bit flumuxed by bit torrents and the like :-\

I tried that thanks rokin. It was good but only allowed 3 pages which isn't enough for what I need.
