Hey all,

Just asking on advice for anyone out there that is a common user of downloading music and what program/site you use.

... Free of course

The best thing I ever bought was a $20 program that records whatever goes through your soundcard. That was years ago so I'm sure you could get the same thing free now. All you do is find the youtube clip of the song you want and record it. Can't go wrong.

I use Limewire, Tannerz. There's a free version as well as a Pro version (which you pay for).
Just remember to close it when you finish downloading as its a "share" site, others can upload from you, which counts on your usage. It can/will transfer straight to Itunes if you use that, then drag to your Ipod when its plugged in. Fairly simple to use.

Just be aware that Limewire networks are full of crap and dodgy files amongst the 'real' stuff. You can certainly find music on there though.

As for upload metering, that would depend on your ISP. If you are with Telstra then, yes, it will count.

Have been using eMule for a few years. Has a large European following and isn't that well known here, so you tend to be able to find stuff that's not widely available (particularly music videos). Doesn't seem to be as many users or files on it as in the past though, and now there's a lot of obvious false files to sift through if you're searching for something small.

Prefer the higher quality of lossless audio to .mp3 and the like, so I generally stick to downloading .ape or .flac files if there's a choice.

Just stumbled accross this....

http://flvto.com/

Paste the link to the youtube song you want and it'll convert to MP3 for you.

If you want to download a song off a youtube video copy the youtube URL and go to www.listentoyoutube.com and paste the link in.. make sure to check High Quality and bada boom.
