I have come to notice that there are quite a few debates raging here on the subject of positive speak as opposed to negative speak(Bagging).

IMO for those supporters that are talking up the positives, it has got to the stage where they have run out of positives, which this year I number at the grand total of 5, and into trying conjure positives from negatives, like the all inspiring win last friday night.

Its like we have become this religious sect that cant see through the fog and have this guy on the stage-Spud putting on one of those shows that has us saying---holy lord praise the lord...sorry to those of you how see that as blasphemy.

Anyway, bottom line....the only 5 positives this year are, and not in any order of merit.
1. Nathan Brown
2. Andrew Krakouer
3. Brent Hartigan
4. Techno Roach
5. Otto(if you really take a look he is one of our best)

Now, when i see people debating the likes of bowden, chaffey, fiora, and arguing for and against these guys, along with arguments about coaches and recruiting staff, i think to myself, why are we bothering to talk about these things when all they are total negatives.
IF they werent negatives then there would be no arguing, as there isnt for the 5 mentioned above so lets get with the page tigers, dont waste your breath on names that are if not now just about dead in the water.

I think that as the season progresses and we see some more time for the likes of Hyde and some game time for the likes of Tuck that we will get a lot more positives.

I reckon your thread is a troll dmx...people can think what they like without having to justify themselves to others believe it or not.

dmx,

1. I feel very sorry for you if a Richmond win inspires you to sarcasm

2. I will post about whatever I bloody well like - if you don't like it, don't read it.

Interesting change of tune there Hartbalme, was that you on the dud bowden thread?

Seems that you like or you dont like when you choose to and if someone else does what you suggest then you jump down their throats.

Haha too good struggler. Funny how people make grand exits but can't stay away. ;D

Ahahahaha is that you Spraying?I must admit I hadn't noticed.

Why did you leave in the 1st place didums?

I like dogs.

I reckon Border Collies are great. Smart, athletic, quick.

There’s lots of other dogs that are good too, but I especially like Border Collies.

Snoopy once said in one of his cartoons that Border Collies are the greatest athletes of all. Snoopy is a beagle and they are fairly intelligent, so I’ll go with him on that.

I'm going to go against the flow here and assume your post is a genuine attempt at discussion and not simply a troll, dmx. Please don't make me regret my decision... ;)

I think that there is no loss so abjectly poor that there are absolutely no positives to come from it. Likewise, I have never seen a winning performance (or draw, for that matter) where it is impossible to find positives). Even in some of the very poor performances earlier this season, some players' efforts were worth noting - and even celebrating (e.g Krakouer's improvement when given more opportunities in the midfield).

You may believe there was nothing good about the win last Friday night. Fair enough, that's your opinion. Personally, I don't agree (and in all honesty, can't conceive how there would be no positives in a winning performance), but you are entitled to your view.

Most AFL supporters are pretty passionate when it comes to their club. When the club are doing well, they are often on cloud nine, but when the club does poorly, their emotional connection with their club can make them a very frustrated and angry bunch. That isn't limited to RFC (just look at Mark Graham's wife's defence of Graham's and his team mates' character that she recently posted on one of the Hawthorn sites).

I love the Richmond footy club. I love the club when we're winning, and I love them when we're losing, even though I often feel angry and frustrated. I choose not to engage in personal attacks on the players because I feel it is disrespectful to the blokes who are good enough to have the opportunity at that level, it reflects poorly on the club and, most important of all, I feel it would reflect poorly on me.

There are always positives, even in the most trying times.

I see you can only take the negatives out of my initial post Hanno.

I did in no way say there were no positives, and for what they were worth i maeked them down.
Now why did i get a barrage of quotes from a cross section of preenders including rosy as taking it as a personal insult, when i did not call anybody any names, didnt name anybody and just had my say?

I'm really not sure what you're driving at now, but I am feeling a bit dense today (it's been a long week already and it's not getting any shorter).

I was remarking on the essence of your post..it was as if you were suggesting that i was saying that there isnt any positives thats all...i might correct myself on the last friday night thing...because fact is we won, and it would be ludicrous to suggest that this is not on the right side of the ledger.
The only reason i have my doubts about friday night is that a win that produces a positive, well for me created a few more negatives in the sense of, why tonight?, why endeavour and running tonight and not the last 4?
