Dermies's Commentary...

I was watching the replay of our match on Fox the other day and reminded me that Dermie is getting just as bad Eddie McMedia when he commentates Hawks games.

Fair dinkum I was ready to throw something at the tv listening to Dermott go on and on...and all the time from a Hawthorn perspective.

The AFL or channel 9 need to look at officials of AFL clubs commentating their own teams games.

Its blatant conflict of interest, unprofessional and downright annoying.

I applaud Tim Lane for having the guts to make a public stand about this issue.....

And dont start me on Eddie's commentary during the Coll - PA game at AAMI stadium on Sunday...grrrrrrrrr

dont you love it when Dermies commentary when players from other teams than Hawthorn do something that appears reportable, Dermie he's going on about it, but when its a Hawthorn player, says theres nothing in it.

At least Eddie McEverywhere can't commentate this week's
"so-called" great derby between the Mugpies and the Bluebuggers as it's on Channel 10

yeah but Rex is the same when he commentates Richmond games, if not worse lol.

I think we just need to accept every commentator has a team they support so all are gonna show some sort of bias in different games, its just natural, just coz ya on the board or a president or whatever dont mean they love their club anymore then you or i love the tiges hey.

Bruce McAvaney used to be biased towards the Crows, Dennis Commetti before he was at 9 was the worst he used to hate all Victorian teams with a passion and it showed.

Rex is the best caller of the game and he says what he thinks of Richmond . As for Dermie what looked to be almost :'( when he was in the Hawthorn rooms the other week how good was that.

Yes, but the difference between Rex, Bruce & Dennis is that they don't hold down OFFICIAL positions at those clubs. Headie is president of his club & Germie is director of football - there is a huge difference.

Yeah, great post Macca.

Besides his bias, Dermott Bungleton is just a straight out crap commentator. Talk about a guy who is as dumb as a plank trying to use words and descriptions to make himself sound intelligent ! Hah hah…he’s just hopeless that bloke. A phony.

And as for Eddie McConflict his call of the Port Scumelaide game was a downright disgrace.

I agree. It’s time the AFL stepped in and put an end to broadcasters using commentators that have a direct and formal position calling their club’s games. Problem is, the AFL is sh*t scared to do anything in case broadcasters like Channel Conflict ark up and stop playing ‘waxies’ with the AFL.

In fact the entire level of collusion and conflict that exists in the AFL is just unacceptable in my opinion. Between tv broadcasters, newspapers, commentators, radio stations, journos, directors, 3rd party businesses etc. etc., its way out of hand.

I used to enjoy it when Captain B and Louie would call games involving the Tiges and the Pies (not necessarily together). If they were caught showing bias the other commentators would get into 'em. Given how much these guys loved their clubs the fact that they were or were not directors was irrelevant - for the most part they could keep their allegiances under control.

I wouldn't mind Eddie and Dernie showing a bit of bias if the other commentators would only put it up 'em. I reckon it would make it entertaining - after all, that's what they're there for. But as it is they're all too scared.

The footy show has become a PR machine for the Scum.
Mc Chins position has become so powerful at 9 nothing is done about bias calls or his turning the footy show into the scum show.
The Port/Coll game was reduced to a laughing stick with a weepy eddie claiming how proud he was...wibble wibble..in a supposedly unbias call!!!

The Port game on Sunday was a prime example.As it became more and more clear that the Pies wernt going to over run Port,McChins clamed up. But Demrmie took over the reins, with the claptrap of how desperate the Skunks had been, and how brave they are, and bla bla bla.It was sickening.The Eddie is a wanker call rang out ;D and all we can hear is paige boy Dermie waxing lyrical about how great the Skunks are.For god sake he's football director of the Dawks..Channel9 is truly a farce.

Agree Lyon, Eddie and Dermie couldnt be more annoying to listen to-although it is funny listening to them trying to make excuses about their teams poor performance. ;D ;D ;D Dermie could not possibly suck up to Eddie any more than he does without people reaching for buckets.

The only good thing about Eddie commentating is when collingscum are losing. I hate the way he goes on "Oh that should have been a free kick to collingwood" and never mentions the free kicks the opposition should get. Then you have to hear the life story of the collingwood player who's got the ball. How many touches he's had for the day and some little story that Eddie's got about him :

I have to disagree with the comment above regarding Cometti's bias. I live in Perth and am therefore subject to a barrage of biased media the likes of which you couldn't imagine. Cometti is one of the few WA commentators who can maintain a degree of balance in his approach. He is a significant improvement over loons like Adrian Barich, for instance.

Commetti is my favourite commentator. He is funny and definitly shows no bias. Very professional in my opinion.
