I may be wrong but i think all draftees get a firrst up 2 year contract, so if Lids continues to go along as he is he will be earning a hefty pay rise at the end of next year, as Tucky will this year.

He supported the Blues, because his father played ONE game for them. I don't think he'll want to leave Richmond, a club which seems to be going somewhere for the basket case that Carlton is at present, more to the point I can't see Richmond letting him go.

Not going to happen next year at least. Even that heartless, gutless, mercenary Ottens stayed for longer than 2 years. Brett seems to have far more character than the doughnut. (Going to be a better player too :hihi BTW)

If it's a rumor I hope it's not true. But I would see why he might want to play for the Blues because of his childhood, but he is better off playing for Richmond, 2006 Premiers

He won't go at the end of the year. 1. He can't 2. The club won't let it happen 3. Hell, I won't let it happen!!!! The boy is a prodigy and he's only just begun. It's all the journo's fault. They like to create hype other nothing to get other clubs ie. Carlton (who don't have the financial capacity, to buy him off us, should he 'hypothetically' wish to leave us come the end of the season) frothing. But we are a club that is going places...for years, but I feel it in my waters, that we are, maybe not this season as much as we'd like to, but surely 07-08 we will rise. Put it this way, where is Chris Judd now?!!! For years, ever since the man set foot in West Aussie, oh, Chris Judd wants to go back to Melbourne...he's still with the Eagle's. Nick Stevens?!!!! He didn't end up with Eddie's mob either. I'd check that the source behind the rumour wasn't a Blue backing journo (ie. Sam Lane)...it's just pure fantasy. They've got nothing else to live for. Lid's has settled in like a duck to water, is part of a plan, being touted as a future captain, and is already well on his way to being a cult figure (amongst true supporter's not 14 year old girls) why would he leave what he's got going for him??? And if anything, if he does due to his dad's 1 game alliance....it'll be like Captain Suga, will put in the hard yards for us, then go back to where the heart is.

Well said Miss Rowie. I don't think Lids is a cult figure, I think he's a genuinely well respected young footballer amongst supporters and players. It wasn't just young girls who were clustered around him all night at the cocktail do last year. I had a brief chat to him and he struck me as a modest, intelligent kid and he has a great future on and off the field.
